"Bye mom! I'll be back soon, promise." I said, kissing her cheek before rushing down to Liam's waiting car. Liam smiled and waved at my mom before hitting the hood of his car and ducking inside. I sighed as I sat down on his leather seats.

"What?" He asked, a small smile laying on his lips. I shrugged.

"Nothing. I just didn't expect to miss home so much. I mean, I love my mom and all."

"But independence feels nice." I nod, laughing. "Well time to get back to reality, college girl." He said, trying to mess up my hair. I swatted his arm as he laughed, pulling away from the curb.

"Key I'm home!" I shouted into my dorm. "We have some things to discuss." She snorted, walking into our small living area with a cup of yogurt in her hand. She spooned some of it into her mouth before answering me.

"You sound like a mother." I rolled my eyes.

"Well I wasn't the one all pressed up against one of your best friends shoving my tongue down his throat." Key smirked as she sat down o not he couch. I sat next to her.

"That's right. If I remember correctly, you were the one who punched my best friend in the face." We stared at each other a bit menacingly before busting up laughing. "What an asshole by the way right?" I nodded, figuring we were talking about Kendall. "I told that idiot to stay away from you. I said you were too good for him." She said waving her spoon at my face.

"Thanks." I said, smiling.

"You're welcome. Anyways," she said, swirling the yogurt around. "He said something smart like, I'll do what I want Kelsey." She rolled her eyes. "I think that might have made it worse. Sorry." She said sheepishly. I shrugged.

"I can handle him." I paused. "And if not, Harry will kill him for me." Key smiled, before laughing.

"That little stick? Hard to believe he can hurt anybody."

"Well he terrorized a lot of people at my school." I said with a shrug. "And I'm sure there's a few people in his neighborhood who could vouch for his bad rep." Key laughed as she. Finished her yogurt, before tossing the remains in the trash can behind us.

"Don't worry about Kendall. Once he finds a new girl who peaks his interest, he'll leave you alone." I nodded slowly, hoping she was right.

"So hey, about Niall." I began. Key snorted as she stood up and brushed invisible dust off her pants.

"Don't worry, I won't hurt that snowflake." I laughed and shook my friend.

"It's not that. Well sort of but.. If you guys do break up it'll be weird because you're both my friends and I don't want either friendship falling apart and I want you guys to be happy." I replied honestly.

"Cut us some slack Em. We've made out a few times. We're not dating.." She paused. "Yet, but it's whatever you know." She shrugged. "But I do agree with you. It's awkward being around an ex." She rolled her eyes. "Well, you would know." She finished, heading into our room. I smiled weakly.

"Yeah, I would know." I murmured.

Later that day, I found myself hanging out with Harry in my dorm. Key had just left for.. Whatever. I had a sneaking suspicion she was going to see Niall but she didn't outright tell me that she was. Harry was bored, as usual, and wanted me to go to his dorm but I refused saying if he wanted to hang out, he would come her and here he was.

"Remember you have to leave at eleven." I reminded him as I tapped my pencil against my book. I was doing some last minute homework while Harry was on his phone, obnoxiously playing the sound effects for some game. Harry snorted.
