Lena Luthor. She should have made the connection. She works at Catco for crying out loud, where Lena's face has been smeared across their magazine several times now for being the youngest female CEO of her shared company, L-Corp. Most magazines write Lena off, thanking her success to her brother, Lex but not Cat Grant. She has always seen a drive, an unmatchable intellect in Lena Luthor and has thrived to empower her as much as possible.

Kara blames her blonde moment on the lack of sleep and various alcohol swimming through her brain. Also, she thinks it's prudent to mention that Lena for once was dressed down, besides her skimpy bikini, earlier she was in tight denim jeans and a white blouse rolled up to her elbows with her long silky hair flowing down her back. On any other given day, Miss Luthor is dressed to impress and intimidate with her expensively tailored suits, vicious high heels, ready to step on any man that looked down upon her and that hair always pinned high in a bun or ponytail.

Either way, all of this didn't click until Lena was explaining how Eve is in charge of L-Corp in Chicago and Sam runs the building in New York. Lena has always been in control of the very first company in National City but now she is moving to London to open that office.

"Don't you have a place in Metropolis as well?" Kara inquisitively investigates, even though she's perched on the edge of a jacuzzi with her baggy sweatpants rolled up to her thighs so her feet can dangle in the water.

The only one refusing to put on a suit and jump in.

"I'm sorry, you said you were an assistant or a reporter?" Lena muses, slowly sipping her bubbly champagne and eyeing Kara over the rim.

She's not sure why, but she's going to blame her blush on the hot water her feet are soaking in. "Just Ms. Grant's assistant."

"You sure could have fooled me."

"I've been telling her for two years now, she's so much better than someone's assistant," her sister jumps into the conversation before swooping back to her own.

Kara rolls her eyes but she honestly adores her sister and her praise. "When I was younger," she begins, inspiring Lena to drift closer in those soothing waters until she's almost touching Kara's leg. She momentarily panics, she's not sure when the last time she shaved her legs because well...she's been going through her depression.

"When you were younger..."

Kara swallows thickly as Lena prompts her to proceed but Kara's a little distracted by the wet hand coming to rest upon her knee. "Uh, yeah, when I was younger, I-I always wanted to be like a detective or something."

"And what brought on that interest?"

And oh dear god, why, is this woman staring at her like she's the most interesting thing in this world? She most certainly isn't. Just a nerdy little girl still trying to fit into this big world.

"Um, I guess it started when I lost my parents," she reveals, even though she never ever talks about this but Lena's sparkling eyes are open and vulnerable and shit, she's screwed. "I was nine..."

"What happened?" Lena sincerely asks and it's the first time that Kara has confessed this and it wasn't followed by an impersonal, I'm sorry for your loss.

"Car accident." She loathes the way her voice cracks under pressure. Even after all this time.

"Were you in the car?"

Kara nods, slowly, reluctantly, desperately trying not to relive that moment. "But uh...Alex's parents adopted me. Her dad worked with my dad and heard what happened. The Danvers had been great, are great but yeah...after the accident I had a real sick need to be some kind of detective."
