chapter ten

~Scarlet's point of view~
I just left the party...it was awful. Dally and Sodapop started arguing and it was all my fault, I have been going out with both of them....it's not fair for them. I like both of them....I just can't choose. I was walking around town because I really didn't feel like going back to my aunts house, after a little while I realized a car was following me...it was a blue mustang...I knew exactly who it was. It was my cousin's boyfriend, he got out and I could tell he was drunk...his friends were with him. They drunkenly walked over to me, Bob looked at me, "Aren't you supposed to be at Cherry's house?", "Aren't you supposed to be with Cherry?", "Nah we broke up..that bitch was too tight." He stepped closer to me making me uncomfortable, "Listen..I'm sorry about you and Cherry but I really need to get going", "Your not going anywhere...why don't you come with us...maybe I can give you a thrill of a life time." My eyes immediately went wide, I started to walk away but his friends grabbed me, "Scarlet quit playing hard to get and come with me", "I said no Bob...please leave me alone", "Sorry princess..that's not gonna happen." He put his hand over my mouth and his friends all grabbed me, they tried putting me in their car but I was trying to fight back...it wasn't working. All that was going through my head was the fact that I have a high chance of being raped by my cousins ex boyfriend, I tried to scream but he held his hand tighter to my mouth. Suddenly out of nowhere a bunch of boys started beating the socs up, they defeated all of them within less than 3 minutes, I looked up at one, "Holy shit you just saved my life..",
"We had too...who knows what those socs could have done to you." I looked at all of them and they were looking at me, "So...who are you guys?", "Greases", "Well what's your name?", "Steve..Steve Randle." I remembered that name from somewheres...than suddenly it hit me..on one of Soda and I's dates he mentioned that Steve Randle was his bestfriend, "Your Sodapop's bestfriend..", "Yeah I am...how did you- Holy shit...your Scarlet Holthouse. Dally and Sodapop have been fighting over you for the past week...they talk about you non-stop." I blushed at thinking about them...but a feeling of guilt washed over me...I am leading both of them on. Steve and his friends all kept looking at me..suddenly I realized one of the was Sodapop's brother, "Hey..your Soda's brother right?", "Yeah...speaking of Soda where is he?",  "something happened." I filled all of them in on what happened at the party, Ponyboy looked at me with his vibrant greenish gray eyes, "Yikes..sounded like total chaos at that party", "Your telling me", "How about you come with us back to my house...than Sodapop can take you home", "Okay." I followed them back to what they call the "Curtis house", I figured them all out by just looking at them. Two-Bit was definitely the jokester...he was the one that made everyone laugh, Steve was the strongest and he cared about Sodapop like it was his brother, Ponyboy is definitely the...book worm, he likes to read and watch movies, and last but not least...Johnny Cade. Johnny Cade was the quietest, he probably has a bad home life or something...he was definitely a broken person.

We finally reached our destination at the Curtis house, we all walked in and I immediately noticed Sodapop sitting on the couch watching tv. The gang hid me behind them and Steve spoke up to Sodapop, "Hey Soda we got a surprise for you!", "Yeah? What could that be?", "This..." They all stepped aside revealing me, Sodapop stood there in total shock...I could tell he was very confused, "Scarlet!?!? What the hell are you doing here? Why are you with my friends? Are you okay?", "To answer all of your questions, I'm here cause your friends brought me here, I'm with your friends because they saved me from almost being raped, and to answer you last question...I'm not okay." He stared at me with total shock, "W-what happened? Who tried to rape you?", "Well I was walking home and Bob Sheldon and his friends tried to take me with them", "I thought he was dating Cherry", "they broke up." Sodapop looked at me with guilt, "Scarlet I'm so sorry you went through that...I'm so sorry that Dally and I made a scene at that party", "It's fine." Why was he apologizing? It's my fault that I'm leading both of them on. A few minutes later he drove me home, we were on our way to my aunts house when he looked over at me, "I'm sorry that the socs got you", "It's okay...I'm just a little shaken up", "Don't worry..they won't ever touch you again...I won't let them." I smiled at him, a few seconds later we pulled up to my aunts house, "goodnight Sodapop Curtis...", "Goodnight Scarlet Holthouse." He kissed my cheek and I got out and headed for the front door, I opened the door and my dad was standing there, "Dad? You scared me", "Sooo...sneaking out of the house is your new thing?", "Relax dad..I'm back aren't I?", "That's not the point Scarlet...you could have gotten hurt or kidnapped", "Well I didn't....so be thankful." I went to go upstairs but my dad grabbed my hand, "Scarlet your done...you obviously can't behave...your grounded", "What? You can't ground me..we're on vacation", "Well too bad...your not obeying my rules...", "That is complete bullshit", "Watch your language young lady...go upstairs and go to bed", "UGHHH I HATE YOU." I stomped up the stairs and went into Cherry's room and slammed the door...life is so fucking brutal.
