chapter twenty

~Scarlet'a point of view~

I went home sad about what happened with Soda, I did this to myself. But I figured a solution out, for the rest of the time I'm here...I'm not gonna talk or look at Sodapop and Dally. I headed upstairs to Cherry's room and she was laying in her bed depressed, "Hey...how are you feeling?", "Not great, I wish I wouldn't have stopped hanging out with Steve. He's extraordinary...all I wanted was him safe", "I know what you mean, but if you really like him...maybe you should take a risk", "I did...look where that got me, it's all my fault he's in the hospital", "It's not your fault", "Yes it is! You have no idea how I feel", "Your right...I'm sorry." Cherry went back to pouting, a few minutes later my aunt called up to us from downstairs, "Cherry dear, a boy is here to see you."

~Cherry's point of view~

I went downstairs and opened my front door, Steve was standing there, "Steve! What are you doing here?", "Cherry I can't stand the thought of not being with you, I like you and I'm willing to take any risk to be with you", "But what if-", "Don't worry about Bob...he can do anything to me, all I care about is you." I literally was in shock...this boy is something special, "Steve...if your really willing to take a risk...than I am too." He smiled at me and I immediately blushed, than he got a little nervous, "Cherry I know we haven't known each other long but...will you please be my girlfriend?." Did he just ask me to be his girlfriend or am I dreaming? "Of course I will be your girlfriend Steve Randle." I put my hand around his cheek and kissed him, he kissed me back. After a few seconds we both pulled away, "Good night Steve Randle...", "Good night Cherry Valance." I shut the door and turned around...my parents were both standing there, "Uh hey mom and dad", my dad looked at me with his cold stare, "So who was that Sherri?", "Uh...a friend", "Really? A friend that you lock lips with?", "Ugh dad don't be so dramatic. Fine he's not a friend...he's my boyfriend." My dad basically turned white, "Your seeing a greaser!?!?", "Yeah? What's the prob", "You know exactly what the issue is, he's a no good greaser and your a well behaved soc." I honestly just wanted to slap my father right now, "I could care less that he's a greaser", "You need to care, when he knocks you up-." My dad was interrupted when my mom put her hand on his shoulder, "Daniel please relax dear, she's not gonna end up pregnant. She can behave herself", "But darling...he's a greaser", "So be it...don't make our little girl unhappy." My dad looked at me and than at my mom and sighed, "Okay...if your happy Sherri, than I guess you can see this boy", "Thank you dad...I love you", "I love you too."

~Scarlet's point of view~

I was just eavesdropping on my cousin and her parents discussion, my uncle disapproved of Cherry seeing Steve but he noticed that Cherry was happy so he was okay with it. I'm so jealous...my dad is so unfair and he makes my life a living hell...I wish I could have my uncle Daniel as my dad. A few minutes later Cherry came upstairs, "So..I see your dating Steve", "Yup! I'm so happy that things worked out", "I wish it could have gone the same for me", "Awe I'm sorry Scarlet...but maybe when you get back to Cali you can meet a sweet boy", "Cherry you don't understand, I met two sweet boys and everything is ruined", "Just remember good things come to those who wait."

The next night...

I snuck out and went to the drive in with Cherry and Steve...I was bored, I had nothing better to do. We were all sitting watching the movie when Cherry went up to get snacks, I was left with Steve, "How are you feeling Steve", "good...doesn't even feel like I got stabbed", "That's good to hear", "So I heard you decided to not speak or look at Dally or Sodapop anymore", "Yeah I just thought it would make everything better. I like Sodapop so much, he's sweet and kind and...so hot." Steve's face went blank and than he looked at me with a smirk, "You don't like Dally at all...you like Sodapop", "Huh what are you blabbing about?", "You just said that Sodapop was so sweet and kind and hot", "No I was talking about both him and Dally", "No you weren't, you were clearly talking about Sodapop...you didn't say Dally's name." Suddenly it hit me..it was Sodapop, I liked Sodapop..and not Dally. I got up and sped walk away, I found myself in front of Sodapop's house. I knocked on the door and he answered confused, "Scarlet? What are you-." Before he could finish I pressed my lips against his, after a few seconds we pulled apart. He looked at me shocked and confused, "Scarlet..what was that about?","It's you Sodapop. I don't know what ever made me fall for Dallas Winston...but when I fell for you...I knew you were the one I really liked", "So your saying that you don't like Dally...you like me", "Yeah...your bestfriend helped me realized it." He laughed, "I really like you Scarlet. I know your leaving in August...but even if I got to date you for the rest of this month and full next month..I would be the happiest boy on the planet", "Yes Sodapop I will be your girlfriend." He smiled and pulled me closer to him, our lips immediately attached to one another. My deal came true....I'm with the boy of my dreams.
