chapter twelve

~Scarlet's point of view~

I am struggling, I don't know what to do about Dally and Sodapop...but I guess my only option is to stop hanging out with them. I made them feel like they had to compete against each other and that's fucked up, that's why I don't ever try for boys...I always screw up. I headed back to my aunts house and luckily made it home before my dad did, I went inside and came face to face with Rose, "Rose! Where have you been? I haven't seen you in like the last three days", "Oh...I've been hanging with Ponyboy Curtis", "WHAT? Dad let's you?", "He thinks I've been hanging out with some girl named Kate...he doesn't know anything about Ponyboy", "That's complete bullshit...he believes you but not me....UGH I HATE THAT I'M THE LEAST FAVORITE CHILD." I charged up into Cherry's room, she was laying in her bed staring at the ceiling, "Hey Cherry", "Hi Scarlet." He voice was so quiet, she was literally heartbroken about her and Bob...I don't know why....he was a asshole. "How are you holding up?", "I...I'm okay. I'm just so upset about Bob and I", "I have no idea what you ever saw in him", "I saw a lot.....", "Cherry...he's not worth it", "I know but....I'm just so heartbroken....I loved him." What the hell? She was in love with him?!? He was such a dick....but it's none of my business, "Cherry can I ask you something?", "Sure...", "So...I like two boys and I don't know what to do. They are competing with each other to try and be with me but it's not even worth it....I'm only gonna be here for two more months", "Well my advice is to enjoy there company while you can....don't worry about choosing between the two of them...tell them you just wanna be friends." I knew she was gonna say that, I have been dreading to hear that...I don't want to be just friends, but it's never gonna be more than friends...I'm leaving in two months.

~Sodapop's point of view~

A few minutes ago Scarlet was in the station and she scared me so bad, I like her so much....but it's hard keeping up with Dally to try and win her over. I have no idea what she see's in him...he's reckless. A few minutes after she left Steve came in the station, "So I see your girlfriend was just here", "She's not my girlfriend Steve", "Why not?", "Well first of all she probably likes Dally, second of all she's leaving in two months", "So? Maybe y'all can do long distance or something", "Yeah I don't think so Steve", "Soda listen to me...if you think she likes Dally more...why don't you start acting like Dally", "Holy shit! Your a genius Steve", "Thank you....thank you very much."

~Dally's point of view~

I feel bad about what I said to Scarlet..I can't believe I said "I won't be surprised when you pick Soda." That was a dick move. I was walking in town when I ran into Two-Bit, "Hey Two-Bit", "Sup Dal", "Two Bit...can I ask you something?", "Uh sure", "I don't know what to do about Scarlet, I want her to like me...but I'm pretty sure she's more into Soda", "Well if you think that she's more into Soda than...maybe turn yourself into Soda", "You really think that will work?", "It's worth a try", "I guess your right."

~Scarlet's point of view~

I was at my aunts house hanging with Cherry in her room trying to cheer her up...nothing was working...so I thought maybe if went to the drive in it would cheer her up. I knew my dad was gonna say no if I asked because supposedly  I am grounded...but to my luck he wasn't home...he was out with my uncle at a rodeo or some shit. Cherry and I got ready and went downstairs, our moms were sitting at the table gossiping and drinking wine, "Mom can Cherry and I please go to the drive in?", "I want to say yes...but your father grounded you", "Mom please!!!! This is important...I want to cheer up Cherry." My mom looked at my aunt and my aunt nodded her head to show her sister she thought it was okay, "Okay fine...but please be home by eleven Scarlet", "I will be." Cherry and I left and made our way to the drive in, we got there and man it was packed. We went and sat in the seats and Cherry was still upset, "Cherry just forget about him tonight...we're gonna have fun!", "If you say so", "To start off our fun I will go get us some snacks", "Okay!." I got up and went to the snack bar, I was waiting in line when I looked over and saw a confusing sight..Dally was acting different. He didn't look like a bad boy,his hair was styled and he was dressed differently, than I looked over and saw Sodapop..he was acting different too. He looked...like a bad boy, his hair wasn't styled...he was wearing leather. I fucked up....they literally changed themselves....to each other. I got out of the line and walked up to Dally, "Uh Dally...what is going on?", "What do you mean princess?", "Uh why do you look like....I don't know...Sodapop?", "Decided to flip the script", "Why?", "Because I wanted to look like a gentleman." What did I just hear?The Dallas Winston I know would never say that, "Dally why are you acting like this?", "Like what beautiful?." Omg I cannot believe he is acting like this, I walked over to Sodapop, "Uh hey Soda..", "Hey hottie", "So..why are you acting...different?", "I feel more alive", "Sodapop...this isn't you", "Uh yes it is baby...", "No...it's not."
