chapter twenty~one

~Cherry's point of view~

I came back to my seat from the snack bar and Scarlet was gone, "Hey where did Scarlet go?", "Oh she went to go confess her feelings for Sodapop", "Took her long enough." Steve looked at me like he just solved a puzzle, "Cherry you knew?", "Of course I knew...she's like my bestfriend. I know everything about her", "That's how it is between Soda and I, he would tell me how much he likes Scarlet and how beautiful she is and all that shit." I laughed ,Steve was adorable, I sat down and he put his arm around me. Steve was the most hottest guy I have ever seen, he always wore his shirt unbuttoned so I could always see his abs..which made me wanna melt.

~Scarlet's point of view~

The next day...

I woke up happier than ever, it was hard to believe that I am Sodapop's girlfriend. I am so lucky....and so unlucky, I obviously am so happy to be with the boy of my dreams...but I'm obviously devastated that it's not gonna last long. I got dressed and headed downstairs, my parents greeted me. My dad looked up at me, "Hey Scarlet! Today we're visiting your grandma. She lives only like five hours away from here", "Grandma Jackie? Your mom? We haven't seen her since I was six", "I know but I thought it would be a nice visit", "NO!- I mean...I can't", "Why not?", "I haven't been feeling very well...I feel sick", "Are you sure you don't want to go?", "I'm sure dad..it will probably be better for the whole family", "Uh okay...if you insist." My mom, my aunt, my dad, my uncle, and Rose all piled into my aunts car and left to go see grandma Jackie. Am I really sick? Hell no! I am hanging out with Sodapop today, I don't have time to visit grandma..besides she barely even knows me. I realized Cherry wasn't home, she must be out with Steve. I headed outside and started heading towards the DX station, on my way there I ran into Ponyboy, "Hey Ponyboy what's up?", "Nothing much..is your sister around?", "Not today..she went with my family to visit my grandma", "Oh okay. See you later." He walked away leaving me with my thoughts, he definitely likes her...but that's a good thing because my sister likes him too!

I finally showed up at the DX station, I walked inside and Sodapop was at the counter, "Hey Soda", "Hey gorgeous." He came out from behind the counter and kissed me. This kids felt real...like it was meant to be, I'm not saying that my other kisses with him didn't feel meant to be..it's just this one felt official. He looked at me with his smiling bright blue eyes, "So what are you up to today?", "well I was supposed to go see my grandma that lives five hours away today but I was able to sneak out of that", "Sly girl", "Only for you Sodapop Curtis."

~Cherry's point of view~

I left earlier this morning, I went to hang with Steve. At around noon we came back to my place, know-one was here though. We went up to my room, Steve smiled, "Your room is pretty", "Thanks." He kept smirking at me until I decided to ask him what was up, "Why are you looking at me like that?", "A lot of reasons", "Well what is it-." Before I could finish spitting out the words Steve's lips crashed onto mine, he pushed me up against my door. He had one of his hands around my waist and the other around my cheek, this make out session was pretty intense...but I wouldn't of liked it any other way.

~Scarlet's point of view~

I got home around 5:00 pm and Cherry was in the living room watching tv, "Hey Cherry! Is anyone home yet?", "Nope! My parents called and said that they aren't coming back until tomorrow...so we get the hours to ourselves tonight!!!!", "That's amazing!!! Let me guess your having Steve over", "Nope we're going out tonight." I looked closer at her and noticed something on her neck...it looked like a bruise but it wasn't...it was a hickey. "So Cherry..what did you do today?", "Nothing really", "Hmmm...so Steve wasn't over here today?", "Nope. What makes you think that?", "I don't know...maybe it's the fact that you have a hickey on your neck and it wasn't there last night." She turned extremely bright pink, "It's no big deal Scarlet", "Oh it will be when your parents see it", "They will never see it. I'm gonna hide it", "Good luck with that."

At around six Cherry left to go out with Steve, I had the house to myself...so I invited Sodapop over. He showed up looking as dreamy as ever, "Scarlet I don't know if this is a good idea, what if your family finds out you had people over", "They won't", "Your taking a big risk", "yeah but only for you." We decided to watch a movie because we had nothing better to do, we were sitting on the couch next to each other when all of a sudden Sodapop put his arm around me, I laid my head on his chest and listened to his gentle heartbeat. After a little while Sodapop drifted off to sleep, he was so peaceful and relaxed. A little while later I drifted off to sleep.
Awhile later I woke up and Sodapop was still asleep, he was so gorgeous. I ran my hands through his hair as he kept on dreaming, about fifteen minutes later he woke up. "Morning sleepy boy", "Morning. What time is it?", "Eleven thirty", "Ugh I gotta get home", "Awe! Do you have too?", "Sadly, Darry said I had to be home by twelve." I really didn't want him to go, his company made me feel not so lonely, "Maybe this will change your mind..". I sat on top of him and started kissing his neck, "Scarlet...I really have to go", "Okay..than leave", "You know I don't want to", "So don't." He smiled at me as my lips touched his lips, I ran my hands through his hair as he ran his hands up my back. This little make out session only lasted a few minutes because immediately Cherry walked into the house. She stopped dead in her tracks and started laughing, "Wow! Scarlet Beatrice Holthouse, your a lot braver than I thought you were. Who knew you would ever invite a boy over?", "What makes you think I wouldn't?", "I don't know...your just a rule follower",  "I'm a rebel now", "Yeah no your not. Your just acting this way because your trying to impress your little boy toy", "Oh shut up Cherry." She laughed and went upstairs and seconds later came back downstairs with a bag packed, "Where are you going?", "I'm staying at Steve's", "Why am I not surprised?."
