Monday
I ran upstairs, leaving Hansol by himself. He looked just as shocked as I was, but he stayed to calm the people in the bar.
"Xero!" I yelled his name. "Xero!"
There were more shouts coming from upstairs that weren't Xero. It seemed Byung Joo and Hojoon discovered that the screaming was coming from Xero, too.
When I entered the room, I saw the two boys in a panic, trying to help Xero.
I've only seen Xero like this once before and I never understood it. The only thing I had come up with was that everyday at noon, he thought he was on fire.
Now, as I'm watching him, it only looks worse. It seems as if his problem hasn't gotten any better.
Xero was running around the room screaming. His eyes seemed glazed over. He was seeing something completely different than what we were seeing.
Xero suddenly stopped, dropped, and rolled. He starting rolling around on the floor, coughing in every direction possible.
Byung Joo ran over to him and Hojoon ran to the other side. The two boys held him in place, making him stop rolling. I knelt over his head and smacked his face a little. "Xero, get up, you're safe!" I yelled at him.
He looked at me with pure terror. Xero struggled against the boys. Once he was free, he was still coughing, but he seemed to be staring off into the distance at something.
I watched as tears fell down his face. He grabbed at his stomach. Then he suddenly turned his head to the side and threw up. Nothing came up though and he was only spitting up his own mucus. The sound was strange and guttural and it sounded as if it hurt like hell.
Hojoon, Byung Joo, and I seemed to be in a trance as we watched him. We finally gave up on trying to stop him.
Xero was crying so hard that snot dribbled from his face and tears fell onto the floor and down his neck. He turned back to the place he was looking before.
Then, very quietly, he whispered, "Mom . . . Dad . . . Jisoo." His voice was raspy and it sounded as if it were difficult to speak.
Suddenly, Xero fell backwards, knocked out.
I looked at the clock on the wall. It read 12:20. Xero was acting that way for twenty minutes. Last time I saw him act this way, it only lasted around three minutes.
Hojoon and Byung Joo slowly picked him up and walked him back to the couch.
I made my way to clean up the mess he made, wondering what was going on.
Out of all the things that bothered me most, it was two things.
One, what was he staring at as he cried?
Two, who is Jisoo?
