Monday

It was as if Sanggyun and I were mirror images of each other. His eyes popped out of his head the same time mine did. My mouth dropped open the same time his mouth dropped open. The only difference was that his eyes were starting to water as mine met Kidoh's.

"K-" I tried to talk, but I couldn't. I was too shocked at the sight of Sanggyun. I closed my eyes and composed myself. Kidoh doesn't need to know about Sanggyun. He doesn't need to know him at all. Sanggyun is in my past and is now a waiter at a fancy restaurant. That's all he is.

I looked back up at Sanggyun and saw that he must have realized the same thing. I'm on a date and he's our waiter. Nothing else. "Is there anything special you would like to drink?" He looked at me first. I met his eyes and quickly regretted it. The connection between our eye contact was too obvious. "I'd like the coffee special. I'm in the mood for coffee," I finally answered.

Sanggyun nodded his head and wrote down some words on his clip board. Then he took Kidoh's order and walked away.

I don't know how much restraint it took in Sanggyun not to hug me or at least tell me he missed me, but I was thankful that he didn't say anything.

"Who is that kid?" Kidoh asked. I looked up from my menu that I wasn't really reading and sighed. "He's an old friend." Kidoh narrowed his eyes. "Is he anything more than a friend?" I sat up a little straighter. "He used to be, but then he moved to Japan to study. Trust me when I say that it's over between him and I. We're just friends." We locked eyes and held them there for a few seconds.

A smile appeared on Kidoh's face. "Fine, I'll believe you." I smiled and looked back down at my menu. Kidoh swept his hand across the table and propped his hand under my chin, forcing me to look at him. "Are you feeling okay lately?" He suddenly asked me.

I didn't know how to answer. How was I supposed to answer? My sister's family died, leaving behind their lazy son, I almost died from having a stupid episode, am I supposed to feel okay? I met Kidoh's eyes.

"I'm alive," I answered. He chuckled and pulled his hand back. "That doesn't necessarily mean you're okay." I huffed and closed my menu. "Well it's good enough for me, Kidoh. I don't know about you, but this past week has been pretty hectic." He looked down at his menu, obviously not able to continue the conversation.

"I suddenly don't feel so hungry," he finally said after a few minutes passed. During those minutes, he kept looking up and past my shoulders. It was as if he couldn't stop looking at something.

"Why, what's wrong?" I asked him, feeling starving myself.

Kidoh clenched his fists and grit his teeth. "Oh look, he's back." I turned around quickly to see what Kidoh was looking at. Honestly, it was getting annoying.

When I turned around, I made eye contact with Sanggyun. I closed my eyes and turned around. Firstly, I didn't appreciate the fact that Sanggyun kept staring at me while he was working. Secondly, I didn't like how this situation looked to Kidoh.

Kidoh leaned forward, looking as if he could punch somebody. "Tell me who he is, now. It's a little difficult to believe he's a friend."

I sighed and looked out the window, anything but him. "He's my ex-boyfriend. We lost contact when he decided to go study in Japan."

"Then why isn't he in Japan?" Kidoh whisper-shouted.

I shrugged my shoulders. "We haven't talked since he moved. This is the first time I've seen him in the past year."

He sat up in his chair and crossed his arms. "Do you want to eat somewhere else? I feel uncomfortable." Kidoh's words made me slightly upset and I didn't understand why. I picked up my purse from the floor. "Can we just go home? It's been a long day."

Kidoh's shoulders dropped. "Why? It's our first date." I shrugged my shoulders. "I could just get a taxi if you won't take me home. I've got money." Kidoh narrowed his eyes at me. "You suck."

I smiled and he followed me out of the cafe.

When we reached his apartment, Xero welcomed us in. "Guys, guess what Yano decided to do today." He had a smug look on his face, as if he was amused by something.

I wasn't amused though. I suddenly got nervous at the possibilities of all the things my nephew could possibly do. I walked into the house, shoes still on and walked in front of Yano. "What happened?" I asked him sternly.

Yano slid up to the edge of the couch. "Well, you see, Uncle Xero had to bail me out of Jail."

I stomped my foot and looked over to Xero. "What? What do you mean, he had to bail you out of jail?"
