Tuesday

I didn't take that long of a nap. When I woke up I felt a bit better. At least, I could stand up and walk around without getting sick.

I walked out to the living room. Xero and Kidoh were sitting together, watching the television.

"Where's Yano?" I asked them. They both turned their heads to me and smiled widely. Kidoh jumped up and ran over to me. I moved my arms in front of me to protect myself. My laughter rang out when Kidoh lifted me up in the air and spun me around.

He put me back down and hugged me tight. "I missed you." I breathed in his scent and let his words echo in my ears. Nobody ever misses me, it felt nice to hear it.

Xero cleared his throat. The sound echoed around the large room and I giggled. "Sorry, Xero," I said. He waved his hand. "I'm here too, just don't forget." I giggled again. "Okay, I won't."

Kidoh squeezed my shoulder. "Can I talk to you now? I have a few things to say?" I was about to answer when my stomach growled loudly.

"Uh, what time is it?" I asked.

"It's around ten, why?"

My stomach growled loudly again. "I'm in the mood for something to eat. I didn't have any breakfast." Kidoh looked down at me and chuckled.

"Then let's go out for brunch and I'll talk to you and ask you my questions over food," he suggested.

I nodded my head. "I like the sound of that. Would you like me to change though?"

He looked me up and down and shook his head, no. "You look fine." I smiled and walked over to the entrance to put on my shoes.

Kidoh grabbed his car keys and gave Xero a thumbs up. I cocked my head in confusion at this. Why would he be giving Xero a thumbs up? Is Xero going on a date with a girl too? At this hour?

I put the thought out of my mind and focused on climbing down the ladder.

We arrived at a pastry shop and I inhaled the wonderful smells. "Donuts," I whispered under my breath.

Kidoh chuckled. He breathed in deeply and whispered, "croissants." I giggled at his words and he took my hand. "Let's go get you some donuts."

After around forty-five minutes of stuffing our faces, we finally decided to stop and talk.

"Where were you for the past week?" I asked him.

"You forgot the extra two days," he reminded me.

I rolled my eyes. "So where were you and what were you doing?"

He let out a long exhale. "I was spending time with my father. He called me up and wanted to talk to me about business and marriage."

I sat up a little straighter at the word marriage. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"My father is dying. He only has a few days left. My father told me that if I want to take over the company, that I have to get married. He wants me to have somebody to lean on when I'm stressed out and to be able to have a family like he does. He doesn't want me to give the company to anyone else when I die. He wants the company to stay running and stay within the family line."

There was a long pause. I needed time to process, to think.

"I already have a degree in business and I know how to take care of the company. I just need a wife to meet my father's terms."

I still couldn't say anything to him. It was as if my mind was choosing to process slowly that day and not work. I was left speechless.

I closed my eyes and breathed in and out a few times. "I guess we can't be together then. Is that what your telling me?" I said it with my eyes closed. I didn't want to see his face when he said yes.

"Hyein, open your eyes." I jumped slightly from hearing his voice coming from right next to me instead of in front of me. I opened my eyes.

Kidoh wasn't sitting in front of me. He was somewhere else. I turned my head to the left and looked down. There he was, down on one knee, holding a box with a silver and diamond ring.
