One Year Later

Friday

Byung Joo and I are lying on our couch together in our new apartment. We finally moved out of his apartment that he shared with Hojoon and Hansol and got our own.

It's only two rooms, but it's perfect for Emilia and the two of us.

Since my family completely disowned me, I was left on my own. Luckily, Byung Joo took me in. That's when we started dating. He developed a sense of fatherhood and I, of course was the mother. We worked well together and I've grown to love him. Right now, we're only engaged, but I'm planning our wedding. A wedding I actually want.

Kidoh hasn't spoken to me or seen me ever since that sad day in the hospital. I decided to let Xero come and see Emilia on the big holidays and her birthday. Just because my life was ruined, doesn't mean I have to ruin his.

Emilia's first birthday is tomorrow and I'm excited to see her dig into her first cake.

She's already spoken her first word, Dad. For now, Byung Joo is the closest person to a father she'll meet. She's learned how to say Mom, Yano, and Xero as well. Whenever she wakes up from a nap or in the middle of the night, I'll always hear her calling out, "Mom!"

As I lay with Byung Joo, watching "It's Okay, That's Love," I come to realize something. Even our biggest mistakes can be good ones. People just need to learn how to deal with them correctly.

Emilia is the best mistake I've ever made.

To think, it all started because of a dance class.
