Xero

I can't focus on my school work today. There's just too much going on right now. I'm seriously considering the option of going home. I'm just wasting my time here.

My professor continues to drawl on with her speech, making me want to sleep. Thankfully, my Dad bought me a video camera so I can record the classes. I can just watch her later when I'm not so out of whack.

I keep twirling my pencil between my fingers, trying to concentrate on something, anything, other than Hyein.

Somehow, I told myself that I was going to ask her on a real date tonight. Not to the bar, so she can see Joo Joo, but to somewhere nice. Im hoping that the place, where ever we choose is affordable.

I'm already telling myself that she'll say yes. I smacked myself on the forehead. No, I can't think too far head. I can plan a little something, like where we'll go, but that's it. I don't want to bum myself out if she says no. That would just be stupid. Hyein has every right to say no.

Someone grabbed my shoulder and shook it. "Hey, Xero, wake up." I fluttered my eye lids. The room was really bright.

I jumped up from my seat and looked around. "Hey, Xero, you okay?" I stood up quickly and grabbed my bag. "Sangdo, thank you so much for waking me up." I started to walk away when Sangdo called out my name.

I turned around and ran back to him. "You left your phone. Some girl has been calling you." I took my phone from him and looked at the lock screen. Hyein called me four times about thirty minutes ago.

I looked up at Sangdo in shock. "How long have I been asleep?"

Sangdo looked at the clock. "Well class ended a little late and the teacher had to go right away. I've been studying for a bit and I noticed that you were still here. You must've dozed off."

I groaned and rolled my eyes. "I asked how long have I been sleeping?"

"Around an hour."

My eyes bulged out of their sockets. I looked at my phone and called Hyein. Sangdo tried to talk to me, but I shushed him.

"Hello?" She sounded like she was crying.

"Hey, Hyein, I'm sorry I didn't answer. I was busy."

She sniffled. "That's okay. I tried calling Kidoh, but he didn't answer either."

I felt like whining like a little kid. "What's up?" I said nervously, trying to hide the fact that she tried to contact Kidoh before me.

"I-I just need somebody to talk to. I'm back at my parents house. I was wondering if you wanted to talk over pancakes."

I chuckled and nodded my head, then remembered that I'm on the phone. "Yeah, I would love to. I'll be there in a bit." I hung up the phone and looked at Sangdo who was staring at me intently.

"What?" I yelled at him.

"Can you give me a ride home?"

I growled at him. "Call a cab! We're in Seoul for Pete's sake!" I ran out of the room as fast as I could.

Hyein was definitely crying on the phone. She needed me. I had to be there for her.

As soon as I parked my car outside of her house and got out of my car, there she was. Hyein came running out of her house and wrapped her arms around me. Her face was puffy and red.

Seeing her like this made me a mixture of angry and sad at the same time. I didn't really know how I felt, but I knew how to act.

I wrapped my arms around her tiny body and pulled her tight to me. My hand played with her hair while the other rubbed her back.
