"I do not know if I can do this,"

Persephone stood on the frozen lake now, her arm around her barely covered body as she stared at her reflection below her.

She looked calm. Perfectly collected but she knew it was because she had perfected the act of pretense and this was only what this was.

Pretense.

The sprites that had left the lake now surrounded her, their blue lights bringing some sort of haze through the darkness of the night as more snow fell, their buzzing sounds loud as they spoke to her.

You can. Trust him.

A small sad chuckle left her lips with some steam as she said, "I have always trusted Leonidas. Maybe now it is a little bit too much. Is it wrong? That I feel this way?"

Sometimes we get hurt by the people we love because we put so much hope in them and they are never perfect enough to do as we want.

"It is scary," She said breathing out again as she looked up at the sky, the dark sky overflowing with stars that glared down at her. "Even they seem to have some sort of message for me."

He is coming.

It was the wind now that spoke to her, the breeze going through her white dress as it flew around with her hair moving along as well before she said to it. "Let him make it safely,"

The wind said nothing else and was gone at that instant, leaving her clutching her chest as the sprites went to her face, some resting on her cheeks.

Be strong for you both.

"I am trying," She whispered, but deep down she knew that she was barely hanging on as it was.

Before, Persephone had learned to live the hard way, to never expect too much from anyone or anything.

People could leave you as fast as they could spell their names.

They could lose their emotions for you faster.

Yet now, she wanted to believe in one person, because he, for the first time in so long, had made her feel something.

And she liked what it felt like.

Persephone heard his horse neighing first before she felt his presence, a small sigh leaving her lips as she turned around to face him, the tiny blue lights now rushing towards him before she smiled, "Leonidas "

He still had the clothes he had been wearing earlier but he looked a little bit disheveled and worry filled his face as he stared at her, "Persephone."

First instinct was to run to him, hold him and let his scents calm her down but she held back herself, the smile still on her face as she took a hand out for him. "Would you dance with me?"

It seemed like at that moment, Leonidas had noticed what she was wearing and his eyes widened, making him run towards her but not quite reaching the lake. "It is already winter! You could fall sick if you keep standing there!"

"Do you remember the second time we met?" She asked softly before she walked to where he was, each step she took graceful and careful before reaching him, her hand still stretched out to him. "Come dance with me,"

Leonidas stared at her with confusion etched on his face but she knew he could remember this moment as well.

It had been the moment he had made a decision to be with her, no matter what.

It was also the same moment that she had bound herself to him unknowingly.

His warm gloved hands slowly reached out to her as well, clasping her cold ones gently as it sent warm shivers through her cold skin before she pulled him to the lake, gliding back so that he could be on it as well.
