Chapter 44

Elliot's POV:

"I'm excited to go to ice cream with you and Belle."

"No." Ezra said.

We were just gaming in his living room.

"No what?"

"You can't be crushing on the Romano's little sister."

"I am not crushing on her."

"Dude." He paused the game.

"Dude. I was winning."

"You've met her once. She's not one of your games. She's my friend, and the little completely protected sister of people who tormented me throughout school."

"She is cute though."

"Shut up Elliot. She's off limits."

"Whatever."

"Not whatever. Some things her brothers told me about her, that I've very much found to be true. So follow these rules. She gets scared easily and doesn't like touch. She just started to feel comfortable around other people, so please be nice and Do. Not. Crush. On. Belle" 

"I'm always nice." He shot me a look. 

"Alright, we should probably go pick her up." He said. 

"Yeah. Bye Ms. Finch." I said to his Mom. 

"Bye Mom."

Xander opened the door and I could tell how uncomfortable it made Ezra to just be in the presence of him. 

"Hey come on in guys. Um, I think Enzo and Leo wanted to talk to you."  

"Oh ok.." His anxiety rising by the second. 

We walked into Enzo's office. 

"Hi boys. We just wanted you to be aware of some things regarding Belle." 

"Ok?" I said. 

"So there are some bad people in her life before she came to live with us. Those people are now in town and we just wanted you all to be aware in case they make an appearance." 

"What do we do if they show up?" 

"You get her out of there immediately and call us."

Who are these people?

"Ok thank you for letting us know." Ezra said. 

"Ok have fun and here is the money for you three." Enzo handed us a 50 dollar bill. 

"I-I was gonna pay.." Ezra said looking between  Leo, Enzo, and I. 

"It's ok. Get whatever you want." 

"Let's not die on this hill Ezra, take the money." I said. 

Belle's POV: 

I'm so excited to go get ice cream with Ezra and even Elliot. 

He's a little intimidating, but he helped me and seems nice. 

"Are you excited Belle?" Liam asked. 

"I am. Ezra said if I did two problems on my own, but I did 4." 

"Woah great job. What kind of ice cream are you gonna get?" 

"I heard there's one that's minty, so I wanna see if it tastes like mint tea." 

"Belle They're here. It's kind of cold. Do you have a sweatshirt?" 

"Yep. Thank you." 

"Hi Ezra, Hi Elliot, are you ready for ice cream?" I walked into Enzo's office and asked. 

"Yeah let's go." Ezra said with a smile. 

Elliot's POV: 

We just walked into the ice cream shop. 

She had this cute skip in her step. 

We got ice cream and sat down. 

"How are you doing after the park?" I asked. 

Her demeanor changed. 

"I'm good." She tried to cover it with a smile. 

Ezra shot me a look. 

"Oh Ezra, Enzo took me to a dog park. Did you know they have parks where people bring their dogs to play?" 

"Yeah, I used to take my dog. How was it." 

"Oh my goodness it was amazing! Everyone let me pet their dogs." 

Belle was talking about it for awhile. 

"Sorry I'll stop rambling." 

"Tell me more." I said. 

Belle kept talking about the dogs at the park and how Enzo ruined his suit. 

The whole time she was talking I just kept thinking. 

She had to love dogs. 

It had to be dogs. 

Ezra loves dogs and was so content smiling when she was talking. 

"And I got to see baby photo's of myself. I've never seen pictures of myself as a baby before."

What does she mean. 

"Never?" 

"No, my Mom didn't really have photo's up. I don't think she even took any of them." 

She went back talking about a pug. 

I mean. 

Dogs. 

Really? 

"What's your favorite dog?" I asked. 

"Echo for sure, but Millie is a close 2nd." 

I chuckled a little at that. 

"I meant like what dog breed do you like best?" I asked smiling.

"Oh sorry. I like Pitbulls. That's what Echo is." 

"Nice." 

Belle was so happy the whole trip. 

I don't know what everyone was so worried about. 

When Mason got home later. I wanted to talk to him about Belle. 

"Hey so what's the deal with the Romano's sister?" 

"You mean Belle? She has a name. You know that name, you spent the day with her." 

"Yeah, so what's her deal?" 

"Did something happen on the trip?"

'No no. We had fun, but something is off about her." 

"It's not my story to tell. I'm gonna hit the sack." 

"What does that mean?" 

"Drop it Elliot."
