" I fade to black
As I search for the light
Can you bring me back
From this unconscious life?
Can you show me the way?
I'm lost in the dark
I'm fallin' apart
Can you unbreak my heart? "

'Breathe' - Through Fire

Emerging from her bathroom and walking into her bedroom to re-dress into something comfy, Emily caught the scent of something cooking and it made her mouth start to salivate. Hopefully Shannon's cooking was as good as it smelt.

She was still trying to get her head around the fact that he had just dropped everything, abandoned his tour and flown literally across the entire country to see her. He was mad. Speaking of being mad, she knew that Jared would be fuming with him, and most likely her. She needed to try and persuade Shannon to fly back and re-join the tour ASAP. It wasn't fair that she had inadvertently ruined so many peoples' lives by Thirty Seconds to Mars having to cancel the rest of their tour because their drummer had fled in pursuit of a love interest; namely, her.

Rummaging around in her walk-in closet, she pulled out a pair of sleep shorts and the baggy t-shirt she had worn last night, slipping it on, minus her bra. She brushed out her white-blonde, damp hair and platted it into a long side plat.

The noise of pots and pans clattering in her kitchen brought her back to her thoughts. She needed to talk to Shannon about this baby. She would just have to suck it up and put on her big-girl panties and discuss things with him. Did he even want it? She wasn't sure what she wanted to do, but the idea of getting rid of it made her incredibly sad. Did she have the finances? As much as Shannon was a well-known musician in a world- renowned band she couldn't just rely on him for money. That wasn't fair and she didn't want him to think she was using him just for that because she wasn't.

How much input would he have or even want any? He was always going to be off on tour and she couldn't expect him to give all that up for the baby. He and Jared had spent years building their Thirty Seconds to Mars Empire, she couldn't expect them to just stop. They had a huge doating fanbase. Sure, Jared had his acting to fall back on and Shannon had this other business venture he'd mentioned to her, but it wasn't the point.

Maybe he could take some time out from the band? Go on a hiatus for a bit, she could do with the support as she wasn't going to lie. She was terrified. She also had Kali there; when she told her, she had been through it al before, but that had been different, she was married and Caleb was planned. She and Jason had discussed children, but it had never gone anything beyond, 'just talking'.

Also, word would get out at some point, it was inevitable. Could she handle all the press and criticism that would undoubtably follow? Shannon was used to that lifestyle, but she most definitely wasn't.

There was suddenly the sound of singing that graced her ears and she smiled to herself. She knew Jared obviously sung, but she had no idea Shannon did as well. He'd kept that one quiet. Clicking open the door to her bedroom she crept quietly down the corridor, not wanting to make Shannon aware that she was listening to his singing. She had a feeling that he was quite shy about it. Jared was definitely the one who wore the trousers in the brother's relationship. He was definitely the extrovert, whilst Shannon was far more laid back and had such a calming and relaxing effect on her.

She hovered in the entranceway to the kitchen and lounge area watching him for a while as he worked efficiently and effectively around her kitchen. He currently had his back to her, washing something in the sink. She took in his physique. He was much shorter and stockier than James, but much more muscular and whereas James had much paler skin, Shannon's was much more olive in complexion.
