{Strawberry Skies - Kid Travis}

"Wanna skip the sleep?" You sat up.
"What? No, your gonna be tired."
You lifted a brow "Bucky let's pretend you did not just say that."
"I mean-"
"Cmon let's go." You got off the bed and pulled him after you.
"Y/N I don't think we should-"
"We should use the time we have left together. Cmon we can go for a ride.I was kinda dumb for saying we should go to sleep."
"I thought you were against running away," he stumbled after you.

"We aren't running away, we're just going far away. We'll be back." You threw a pair of sweatpants at him.
You both changed into something a little more warm and put on your coats.

You grabbed your car keys and quietly left the the house.
"I'm driving!" Bucky called. You threw the keys over to him and sat down in the passenger seat.
He started the car "So where to?"
"Anywhere, just far away from the city."
"Alright, highway it is."
"Past all the thick forests and motels and abandoned gas stations." You smiled leaning your seat back.

As Bucky drove through the city you watched all the lights blur past you. You saw your reflection in the window and focused on Bucky. He had a small smile on his face. He was genuinely happy that you wanted to spend time with him, which duh you did.

You decided to turn on some music.
You stopped at 'Strawberry Skies'.
As you drove off into the country highway, where barely any cars passed you, and barely any houses and buildings were in sight you rolled down your window.

You smiled feeling the wind blow through the car. Bucky chuckled glancing at you.
You mouthed the lyrics dramatically making him laugh. "We're gone with the wind! Hair in your face, put my hands on your waist. Strawberry skies, all on your lips!"

He chuckled. "The songs very fitting!" He yelled over the loud wind and music. You undid your ponytail and let the wind blow through your hair.
"Right!" You laughed hinting at the lyrics.
He swayed his head side to side.

You were going far far away. Both of you didn't know where, anywhere, away from all of your problems and worries which seemed impossible.
He pressed the gas pedal, going a bit faster.
You closed your eyes and enjoyed the moment. Bucky's presence, pleasant music and cool wind. This was a feeling you were definitely going to miss. Sooner or later. You tried not to think about the fact that in a couple of hours Bucky would no longer be with you.

After a few more crazy songs you shut the window panting. Bucky slowed down going on the speed limit.
"Have fun?" He chuckled.
"Yes actually." You tied your hair up in a bun letting some strands fall lose in front of your face.
"What now?" He asked.
"I'm hungry. You?"
"Not really but I wouldn't mind a soda, or beer." He shrugged.

"Drunk driving are we?" You joked.
"Ha ha very funny." He nodded eyeing you. "You know I can't get drunk."
"Yeah which is pretty cool if you ask me. Soldier serum has its benefits."
"You could say that. But really, I'd rather not have it."
"Oh? Why not."
"Just generally not fond of this whole thing. Hard to control emotions, and the cost of this was way too, um..."
"Yeah I get it." You said. "I mean I understand." You quickly added.

He nodded "Yeah." He whispered.
"So," you quickly tried to change the subject "How about we stop at the next drive through?"
"Im down if you are, as you say." He said using your phrase.
You grinned, that was so cute.

You pulled up to an old motel that had a gas station and a seven-eleven next to it. You shut the car door and made your way inside, Bucky behind you. The guy at the desk looked up for a few seconds and then continued reading his magazine. You shrugged at Bucky.
You ended up getting two slurpees a set of beers, tub of ice cream, chocolate and sandwiches.

Throwing everything in the back seat you looked at Bucky over the top of the car.
"Hey do you wanna stay at the motel?"
He raised an eyebrow "Aren't we going back?"
"Yeah we are, but we can like eat there or something." You suggested.
He thought about it for a second. "You know what will be a lot more romantic?"
"What?"
"Driving off the road into a field and laying under the stars."
"While eating ice cream," you continued in a dreamy voice.
"Exactly," he chuckled.
"Well, we are in the middle of nowhere, bunch of fields everywhere, shouldn't be a problem."
-
You shut the car door behind you and carried the plastic bag with ice cream with you. It was pitch black and the moon was very visible. Bucky jogged up over to you and put his hand around your waist.

After a bit of waking you stopped at a clear patch of grass that looked perfect for star gazing.
You sat down and collapsed onto your back, feeling like all the weight has been taken off of your shoulders...which it wasn't, but the slightest illusion of it made it already a lot easier.
Bucky laid down next to you and sighed.
Usually you'd ask if he was ok, but it was just obvious at this point that absolutely no one was ok. You took his hand and looked at him. He had his eyes closed in a not so relaxed way.

"Bucky," you whispered.
"Yes?" He said in a tired voice.
"Would you still love me, even if I was an old grandma?"
This made him open his eyes and turn to you. All he saw was you trying your best not to laugh.
He chuckled covering his face with his hand.
"No but seriously." You laughed.
"I-Uh-Yes," he shrugged than nodded and finally laughed again. You scooted closer to him and hugged him from the side with your hand around his chest. He rubbed your arm "Are you hungry?" He asked.
"Starving." You whispered with a smile.
