I set the kettle on the pot rest as it finished boiling, I slipped the teapot lid off gently, pouring the water into the ceramic teapot in the little light of the candle on the kitchen window. The sound of the rain hitting the roof ran down the walls of the house. I put the lid back on the little teapot using a tea towel to hold the bottom as I carried it to the table in the living room, sitting it on the mat between our two cups and saucers. I heard the sound of Ivy jumping and landing making me look up and as I did I froze and for a moment I took in everything.

The outer wall of my little house, my bookshelf against it beside the large bay window and window seat, The Orange and red glowing light flickering and shifting as the fire cracked and broke away at the wood, The few candles providing pockets of light that casted dancing shadows across the walls and floors. Both arm chairs empty sat on the little rug, The curtains on the window pulled back completely letting the little light that remained in the world in. There she sat, her little black boots laced with blue ribbons hovered a few inches above the floor almost like she was floating. Sitting on the window seat, her hip into the window her knees on the seat with her, The layers of her black petticoats strewn about so you could see the various layers and styles of fabric below the outer skirt, The Blue skirt jutted out from her hips fluttering down her gracefully like water from a fall, The top of the dress held her so closely flattering the sculpted space with spots of black lining and lace, Her sleeves unbuttoned and pushed back exposing her forearms and elbows, The slight grey light of the window cascaded across her skin, a gentle soft smile across her lips, the rain reflecting in her eyes, her hair still tight in it's ribbons sitting so perfectly where it should have been. Her hand up on the window, her index finger following along with the droplets of water that ran down the window. Ivy Beside her sitting on her dress, I went over taking the space left in the window seat, looking at her softly. Outside the window the world was being battered by this storm. The trees being whipped and battered by the wind and rain, the rain falling on the houses and the cobblestones, a little river running down the edge of the cobblestone street, The sky a dark grey with very little fading light behind it, Flashes of lighting cracked across the sky every so often, with thunder claps along with them. A few houses had a light or two on in the higher windows but most bunkered down and shut up for the night. The rain hit the window leaving behind little drops that would gather and then run down the window, Y/n's finger followed her smile growing wider with each passing moment. Seeing her smile like that, Made me smile and my heart glow in a way I had only felt subdued before, but all of it made me restless. I watched her gently giggle following a drop but as her hand reached an inch before the bottom of the window I took her wrist in my hand gently making her jump turning to me as I slipped my fingers into hers. I gently Kissed her lips tasting the sweet strawberry taste there behind the taste of the tea we had both been drinking, I pulled back hovering close to her as I tried to think but I had only one thought in my head. Her hand moved back to the window to follow another drop so I kept my hand in hers and followed it with her.

"I love how you see the world"

"I see the world the same way you do Whitey, I just think about it differently" she smiled back

"Y/n, you're staying tonight, aren't you?"

"If I may"

"Of course you can," I smiled. "In fact, Y/n. Could you stay forever?"

"I don't know Whitey, forever is an awfully long time" she giggled

"I know. I just... I don't know what I'd have done if I'd never met you, and I don't even dare to dream of what I'd do if I lost you" I told her

"Aww Whitey, I don't ever want to think what would happen if I lost you" she says sadly stroking my cheek before returning to the window I watched her for a good few minutes before I spoke up taking her hands in mine

"Y/n. Would you marry me if I asked?"

"I would, If you asked"

"Then would you marry me?"

"Are you asking?" she blushed

"I'm asking" I smiled "Y/n, will you marry me?"

"Yes"

"What?" I asked in shock unsure I heard her right

"Yes I will marry you" she smiled

I pulled her close and kissed her sweetly "I love you so much Y/n"
"I love you too Whitey '' she smiled "Come on, let's get up to bed it's going to be a cold night" she smiled

"Your right" I nodded separated and each did a room or two shutting up the house checking the locks and snuffing out candles,  I took her hand admittedly I felt nervous having never had Y/n share my bed but given we where now engaged I best get use to it. I lead her up the stairs hearing them weak as we moved,

"Is this me or this me?" She asked to the two bedroom doors

"Well that depends, you can have your own room if you'd like or you can bunk with me, either way you're welcome my darling" I cooed giving her hand a kiss she nodded tugging my hand to my bedroom she took her things and went to the bathroom to change. I slipped my clothes off getting ready for bed and climbing in watching Ivy as she found herself a cosy spot on my dresser where a shirt for the laundry sat. I felt nervous but excited and soon enough I felt as if I slipped into a dream watching Y/n emerge from the bathroom in her little white nightie she put her dress, petticoats and boots by her bags and came over to the bed sitting on the edge as she began untieing her ribbons

"Here, let me." I said helping her where I could "guess you need your vanity for things like this"

"I rather do yes" she giggled

"Well, you can bring it here whenever your happy to Y/n" I told her

"Umm we did say we'd move in when we got engaged" she reminded

"We did, you're more than welcome to. As soon as the rain stops or not until we're married it's up to you" I told her as we finished with her hair and she climbed into the bed beside me

"Oohh your beds much bigger than mine" she says

"Well lots of space. But you can always cozy up with me if you want to"

"I'd like that, goodnight Whitey"

"Goodnight darling" I smiled giving her a kiss "I love you"

"I love you too" she giggled as we blew out the last candles and got settled in bed we both shuffled a few minutes trying to get comfortable trying a few different ways of laying, before we settled with her turned away and me cuddled behind her with my arm around her body keeping her secure and safe as we drifted to sleep.
