Y/N pov

I woke up early with Morris beside me. I was engulfed in his tight grip. His head was in my neck and I tried to move to use the washroom but he pulled me in closer. I laughed.

"Good Morning," I told him.

He groaned then responded with "Good Morning doll." We stayed like that for a while. In each other's brace. Warm and Happy.

He nudged his head further into my neck and started to kiss it. Butterflies erupted in my stomach. It was enough to make butterflies have butterflies. Things were about to start getting friskier but then Oscar started beating on the door.

"MORRIS GET UP" Oscar yelled and Morris groaned. He kissed me and we started to get ready for work.

I put my pants on and was about to put my shirt on when Morris handed me one of his low-cut shirts and told me to wear it. I laughed but put it on anyway. He grabbed my hand and we walked down the street in the crisp morning air. Morris led me into a place called "Mezaj Coffee" and once we walked in the door we were greeted by the scent of donuts and coffee.

Morris led me to the counter and bought two coffees and three bagels. He handed me the bag and we walked to the distribution centre. Morris opened the door and went in.

"Why'se ya stopped? C'mon doll." Morris said.

"I'm a newsies I'm not let in yet," I told him. He laughed and grabbed my hand bringing me the closed and locked the gate again. Oscar was already there stacking papers. We walked over to a bench and Morris handed me the bagel and coffee. We ate in silence and finished quite fast. I grabbed the trash and threw it away.

I went to talk to Oscar to see what he was doing.

"Counting the papes" he told me. Just then Morris' hands came around my torso and he picked me up and spun me. He handed Oscar the third bagel and got to counting. He counted out 80 papers and handed them to me while Oscar went to go eat.

"Do you need any help?" I asked Morris in hopes of providing my services. He beamed and said "Sure doll you can count that pile." he told me while pointing to a pile of newspapers infront of me. I started to count and had a stack of about 60 papers, but then I started to hear the boys. I hid behind Morris before anyone could recognize me.

"Why'se ya hiding doll? They's know don't they?" he asked.

"Oh yeah, I just don't want them to get mad," I said.

"If they do then they'll have to deal with me." Morris did a cheesy wink at me then kissed me in front of all of the newsies.

Some shouts of protest came out and some shouts of approval came too. Like from Crutchie and Albert.

We were staring at the gates as Oscar went to open it. "Do you wanna hand out papes with me?" he asked.

"No, I'll just stand here and watch or something."

"Okay" he said as he kissed the top of my head.

Jack sauntered up to Morris then turned to me. "Y/N" he said with a hesitant nod. I half-smiled back.

"100" Jack spit to Morris. Jack grabbed his papers before stopping to look at me.

"I- Y/N what the hell is that?!" Jack spewed.

"Uhm what?" I asked but then Jack grabbed my neck and yelled "THIS" Morris pushed Jack off of me then Jack started to become pissed at me.

"Keep ya slimy mits off her!" Morris yelled back at Jack. Race was behind Jack, just as shocked but he looked, broken, heartbroken? Physically broken? A mix of pain was highlighted on his face. Behind Race was Albert who pushed Jack and Race apart. Slammed his money on the counter and grabbed me out of there so we could start selling but also for the sheer fact that what was happening in there was mayhem.

"Y/N come on" Albert said, dragging me along.

"God that was-" he cut himself off with a huff. Then he pulled me into a nearby alley.

"Y/N you're dating Morris. Yay. But you cant wave it around because some of the boys are angry about it. An-And the hickey Y/N. Everyone noticed. We need a plan. A smarter plan. Okay?" he told me.

"Okay. I know exactly what you're saying. I'm going to talk to Morris. How about we sell the papes then go from there?" I asked.

"Yeah sure let's just come up with something before we get back to the lodge," he told me.

AFTER SELLING

Okay, so I think I've come up with a plan.

I'll simply ignore everyone and stay at Morris' apartment again.

Well, maybe I won't do that. I decided that I was going to talk to Race. Try and smooth all of this over. If that's even possible.

My walk to the lodge was peaceful, I could hear the birds singing and children playing in the streets. Just then Morris came running up to me. He was very out of breath...

"You

Lodge" he said. Then he pulled me into a quick hug and jogged away.

What a goofball I thought to myself...

Well, at least he's my goofball.

As I walked the rest of the way to the lodge I started to become antsy. I really truly hoped Race wouldn't just wave me off.

I walk up the steps and the first person I see is Jack. I avoid eye contact at all costs. But to my relief, Crutchie started to hobble over to me and we made conversation until the door opened and I shot my head in that direction, hoping for Race, ending up with JoJo instead.

I've been making small talk with any Newsie that would talk to me for a solid hour.

Still no sign of Race,

Where is he...
