Skip a beat

The event seemed to be in full swing. People danced together in groups. Tyler had complained about having to attend the event most of the day. But as the evening slid on he seemed reserved.

Looking for him in the crowd you watched as Tyler hurried away. Confused at his sudden departure, you hurried after him. It took a while to catch up with him but when you did you found him hunched over outside. When you called his name he motioned for you to go away but with concern in your step you hurried to him. He looked up at you and you jumped. His eyes were golden yellow.They didn't look human and certainly didn't look like his eyes. They seemed to glow in the murky evening as if they were the only thing meant to stand out. Panic struck you for a moment and you took a few steps back.

"Tyler?" You said nervously.

"(Y/N). I can explain." He gasped. His body seemed to be shaking a little. He straightened up as if he was struggling.

"You can?" You said in a squeaky voice.

"My heart skips when I'm with you." He said as he stood up. He winced and tried to look at ease.

"Your heart skips and that happens?" You said slowly.

"Oh. No, I'm a werewolf and I lose control when I see you. I've been working on it. But it's a little hard." He frowned when your mouth fell open.

"Your eyes glow like that because you're a werewolf!" You gasped. His eyes went wide.

"Did I say werewolf?" He muttered.

"Yeah Huh! You said werewolf." You said back and he winced. He started to look around. Following his gaze you spotted a few people near the doors looking your way. "Are they werewolves too?" You whispered loudly.

"No. They're... vampires... also witches. Lets just. Get out of here and I can explain." Tyler offered hopefully. You look back at him and grinned.

"Explain how you're a werewolf and they are vampires and witches?" You joked. He gave you an exasperated look as you laughed lightly.

"I'm wrangling a deadly internal monster and you're laughing." Tyler said as you followed him away from the loud party and led you to his car. He offered to take you out to dinner and explain everything. You took him up on the offer but joked that you'd want to take notes.
