SPENCER HAD WEASELED HER WAY INTO FAKE STEVE'S DEAL with Debbie and Anais. To quite literally buy their silence for the time being, Jimmy-Steve Lishman had begun to splash the cash and spend his money on things that each of the girls wanted, their apparent 'shut-up gifts'. Debbie requested cookie cutters and a sieve for baking. Anais being Anais, wasted no time in asking for a down payment of 20 dollars plus another 15 if he wanted her to act surprised when the truth would be eventually revealed about his secret.
And Spencer, though usually never being one to willingly bribe a person, didn't waste her opportunity in her end in the deal by getting the one thing she'd been wanting for a while now. New Chuck Taylors. And they were good ones too, which surprised her.
She had assumed that fake Steve would've just reached into a donation bin near his local Sears and picked up the first descent shoes he saw, slapped a fake Converse sticker on its side, then called it a day.
"Those look so fucking good on you," Mandy blew smoke from her mouth, cigarette lowering in motion. Spencer kicked her feet onto the stack of magazines spread across the makeshift table in her shed, proudly presenting her new shoes. "How'd you wrap him around your finger again?"
Hanging out with Mandy Milkovich was something that Spencer never thought she'd do that often, if at all. But ever since their long walks to school along with boys, and Inez, the pair had both gotten to see a side to one another and soon came to a realisation that they were similar to some extent.
