𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗨𝗦 𝗙𝗟𝗘𝗪 𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗡. Battened wax coated wings that once shimmered in a desolate array of hope and flight, scorched mercifully in a callous pit of ugly flames. Heaven nearly awaited him with bearing arms, but the only gruelling hug he received was from the salty shallow depths of the sea below. It swallowed him alive. His hopes. His dreams. His unconquerable, intoxicating, urge to reach his limits. His lack of humble moral killed him, and now he was a modern allegory of self destruction.

Icarus seethingly laughed mere moments before he hit the sea. He yelled to the wind, with his arms outstretched wide and smile gummed over by sheer relief. The wax trickled down his back in tendrils, whilst feathers floated up to the heavens like lost prayers, and death brushed the apples of his cheeks solemnly. A final parting gift to aid him on his plunge towards eternal damnation.

Spencer wasn't Icarus. Her transcendence from girlhood to the person she was now started and ended right in the depths of shallow grounds. Wading through salt water with no rays of light to guide her.

She could blame her upbringing, her mother, the world and its constant bearings. But that would make her into everything that she already hated about Coral. A headless cluster-storm of loathsome misery
