GOING TO GROUP USED TO BE SPENCER'S LIFELINE, ONCE UPON A TIME. After begrudgingly making herself go to meetings for an issue she didn't even have for the first 2 weeks, the sessions eventually grew on her. Thursdays not spent being confined to a back breaking plastic chair whilst listening to an less than overly zealous woman come up with many group activities to kick drug habits was a day not spent well. But now, group was a dead limb with no purpose to her. Stagnant. All the lessons the concellor taught were the same overly-repeated jargon rubbish that felt as though they'd been pulled out of the back of one of those a Positive Thinking books. They were words dipped in sparkles and thrown feverishly at all the members of the group till they eventually stuck. Played endlessly in their minds like a soon to be dated pop song.
And Spencer hated that. No, she loathed it to her very core.
Ever since the new year had dawned, her new mission, besides trying to build back the pieces of her life that had been bulldozed by Andrei, was to get herself the hell out of Drug Counselling. Spencer wasn't an addict. She'd never been one to begin with, and that was the same redirect that she'd been preaching to Elaine from the sidelines since the moment she had shoved her into sessions.
But of course the woman of all things knowledge didn't see eye to eye with her. She knew Spencer. She lived and breathed Spencer. And in her steel thunder eyes, counselling for an addiction was what was going to nurse her back to health again.
