I sighed as I felt myself wake up, feeling a little less warm than before.

I saw I was in bed, and sat up, seeing clean bandages on my arms, and sighed quietly.

Damn...

"Its not good doing that...." A voice said, making me turn to see Emersom sitting on the armchair next to the bed, a solemn look on his face.

I pursed my lips and looked away, hugging my knees close.

"I know you Earth Humans may see this as a way to cope, or to punish yourselves for who knows what reason... However, you, of all beings, have done nothing worth punishing your skin for in such a awful way.... Enough has already been done to it....." he said softly.

I sniffled and kept my gaze down, hearing him stand and walk over, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"He wouldn't want you to do this...." he said softly.

That's what broke me, and I just burst into tears.

I cried quietly, brushing my fingers through my hair as he moved closer.

"Please.... Let it out.... Its clear how bottling it all up is killing you," he urged.

I sniffled as I cried and looked up at him behind my tears.

"I can't take it anymore..... I-I didn't ask for any of this...." I cried. "All I ever wanted was a place I could feel safe... A place I could call home... Belong somewhere...... I thought I had finally found that with Remington after all these years. I finally felt happy and safe with him..... I finally felt true, real love, for the first time ever...."

He was quiet as I sniffled.

"I finally feel happy and then..... I lose even that...." I cried, burying my face in my knees.

Emerson gave me a sad look and then reached over, holding my hand and making me look up.

"I can't imagine life for little Lynette in that orphanage....." He frowned. "You were so small and helpless..... All alone and scared for so many years.... Given false hope and rejected over and over again..... Hurt and mistreated for so long, never feeling good enough for anyone.... Then, when you meet someone who was supposed to save you from solitude and hunger, he turns against you and abuses you, even tries to kill you....."

I whimpered and looked away as I cried.

"I know it feels like you lost everything when you lost Remington..... He was your mate, your other half.... He gave you the one thing you've longed for your entire life... Losing someone like that, its the most painful feeling you've probably ever gone through....." he said. "However, it does not mean you are alone....."

I sniffled and looked up at him.

"When you found Remington.... You also found your family....." he said, holding his hand out to me. "You found it with us.... Sister..."

My eyes widen at his words, looking up at him

"You will not be abandoned, ever... I assure you....." he said.

I let out a shakey breath as I meekly took his hand, holding it tight.

He pulled it close, kissing the back of it and gripping it.
