Dmo stood in shock, not knowing what he should do first. Thank everyone or hug his niece? The last time he'd saw her in person was when she moved away for college.

Dmo- You guys really did this for me?

Lonzo- Hell yeah, how could we not.

The older male went around giving side hugs to the females and dapping up the males. But when he got to Mariah he damn near jumped on her.

Dmo- And where the hell have you been??

He asked, squeezing the life out of her. She wouldn't show it, but was right where Melo had both punched and kicked her. It hurt like hell but she kept a poker face on while hugging him back.

Mariah- You know..college. I've been busy.

Dmo- Mm. I'll take it.

MARIAH

When Dmo pulled away, part of me wanted scream out in pain. My side still hurt so freaking bad and I refuse to go to the doctor because I already know they're gonna ask questions. I just can't have that. So I'm better off with pain meds and ice packs till it heals.

Ant- So..are you actually friends with NBA players?

He asked, coming over towards me after people begun to split up. I plopped myself right back on the couch where I was before.

Mariah- Depends on which players you mean.

Ant- How do you know so many Hornets players?

Mariah- Uhh, I was kind of an equipment manager for the 2019-2020 season.

Once everyone dispersed into their own small groups, I stayed at the table with Ana and my brothers. From the corner of my eye I saw Ant talking to Mari, and my eyebrow slightly raised.

If I'd known any better, it looked like they were flirting and it made me slightly jealous. No, stop. What am I even talking about? I have Ana.

Maybe I should send her a text..yeah. Ima do it.

Once I sent it, I kept her in my eyesight until she looked at her phone. Her face scrunched up.

After I left Melo on seen, I thought that would be the last of the interruptions from my conversation with Ant. We'd started talking about what purpose giraffes surved in the world, and right before I could agree, I got another fucking text. This time from Instagram.

Mari'd had enough of Ana and her shenanigans, so she was going to do something about it. Also leaving Ana on seen, she put her phone down and stood up from the couch, heading towards the kitchen.

Mariah- Dmo I don't mean to ruin your party, but I have to get this off my chest.

Dmo- Okay?

Mariah- Melo can I talk to you outside?

She abruptly asked, catching everyone's attention. She sounded mad and it was clear. This could go either one or two ways, Melo thought. So he decided the second way.

Melo- Uhh, yeah.

As he got up, Ana grabbed his arm and sat him right back down, causing Melo to look at her as if she were insane.

Ana- Anything you say to him, you can say to the two of us.

She said, looking Mariah up and down with a smirk on her face, not wanting her to be alone with Melo.

At this, Mariah scoffed, chuckling a bit before folding her arms.

Mariah- Alright, well Melo. Can you let your pet cougar, rat, or whatever it is you're dating, know that the next time she decides to threaten me via Instagram, I will personally beat the fucking plastic out of her and drag her up the streets of Charlotte until she's nothing but a bad BBL that not even Doctor Miami could fix?

Many people in the room tried to hide their laughs by coughing while others just couldn't hold it in at all. Lavar, Yank, Lonzo, and Eli just full on laughed. Melo stood there in shock while Ana was pissed.

The next set of events happened quickly. Ana got up, ready to fight Mariah and Mariah put her hands up in return.

Before Ana could even get to where Mari was, Melo restrained her. He knew Ana would get her ass beat.

Ana- Bitch you lucky he's holding me back!

She slightly yelled at the girl on the other side of her boyfriend. No one else wanted to stop it, mainly because it was entertaining.

Mariah- That nigga ain't nothing but skin and bones. You could easily push past him. You just scary. As I thought.

Lavar- Let her go Melo. I wanna see how it ends.

His comment caused a chain reaction of agreeing. Melo couldn't believe what he was hearing. His own mother agreed.

Mariah- Yeah LaLiar. Let her go. Let's see if she really bout it, cause she was talkin all that shit in my dms. How I better stay away if I knew what was good for me, and how she was gone get violent. Put ya money where ya mouth is sis.

She began tying her hair up with an extra hair tie that Ally had given her.

Melo- Ana don't do it. Please. I'm Forreal.

Ana- Why?? So I'm supposed to just sit here while she disrespects me?

Melo- Bae, she gone beat yo ass. I'm telling you she crazy. I just don't want you to embarrass yourself.

Ana- If anyone's should be embarrassed it should be her. I don't know how you got with a bitch so fuckin ugly.

Melo's mouth dropped. If there was one thing in he hated, it was anyone disrespecting his "best friend" and almost the entire world knew it.
