Together

Tobias POV

We sit in a circle eating ham sandwiches. Tris leans into me. I have my arm wrapped around her, food in the other hand. #my life is complete.

"So how long have you two been together?" Zeke asks me all though he already knows. She lifts herself off my side and reaches for a napkin.

"Four months" Tris doesn't look up.

"Liar" she mumbles making everyone laugh.

"I'm not a liar..." I defend "because I made her my girlfriend once I laid eyes on her"

"Oh yeah? Tell them around what time you called me beautiful" I laugh remembering the time I had said that. I didn't mean to make her sound dumb that night I found her walking the streets. I actually thought she was beautiful and still think. I just couldn't say it because I wanted to be faithful to Jordan.

"When I wasn't single yet" I say. They all laugh.

"How about you...how long have you been together?" Tris asks the rest of the crew.

"Well Uriah had the guts to ask me out today..." Marlene says.

"Pansycake" I mumble under my breath. He glares at me. Everyone else laughs.

"Will..." Marlene says encouraging him to speak up.

"Well...it's been a year now" Tris looks at Christina.

"I thought he wasn't a man" she says. what?

"Hold on what?" Zeke jumps in.

"It's an inside joke" Christina says "well we wanted to keep it a secret but sadly we failed" she informs Tris.

"For like a year" Al points out. We all laugh.

"Shauna? Zeke?" I ask. He smiles at me.

"Two years" I smile.

"You were cheating on Lauren?!" Uriah asks. He nods "wow Shauna and to think you were a goody two shoes"

"I am...it's a long story..." she defends. Basically what happened was that Lauren and her were friends. Lauren's the kind to lead guys on so she went for Zeke to try to make Shauna feel jealous. She's a terrible friend.

"I had fun today" Lynn says breaking the long silence.

"Yeah, it was different" Al agrees. I glance over at Tris. She holds her gaze towards the blanket we sit on. I know something is troubling her but I can't talk to her now.

We arrive back at the compound around 7:00 P.m. I checked up on Evelyn. She seems to be doing fine but I still worry about her. I head to the kitchen to grab a late snack.

I crash into a sleepy looking Tris. She looks as if she'd seen a ghost.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"Nothing" she shakes her head.

"Tris" I say. She sighs...

"Your mom...opened up to me and we had a pretty deep conversation..." seriously. I let out a breath.

"Wow...really?" I ask just so I know she's not joking

"Yeah...what's wrong with that?"

"Nothing at all, it's just I thought you two we're not supposed to get along" she laughs.

"Don't be so negative Four..." she walks past me. Did she just call me Four? I catch up to her.

"I have told you many times to address me as Tobias" she shrugs and turns to me when she's halfway through her door.
