Tris POV
I don't know how psycho people make it this far in life. I mean even I can't do anything to affect my life in a meaningful way. Not like Jeanine.
The door opens and Drew steps in. He leans against the wall picking at his cuticles.
"How's Tobias?" He asks. I ignore him my dad sits up. I try to make myself look confident and not afraid but it hurts my insides as I try to "I suppose that after this you won't be seen the same ever again..." I look up from the ground.
"Why don't you just go ahead and kill me?" He laughs sarcastically.
"I don't think Jeanine wants that...she wants to make sure each of you feel the pain...but in order for that to happen...someone has to die" I sit up straighter "don't stress about it...she left it pretty easy" he walks out and begins to close the door.
"Who is it" I ask not looking back. The door opens and the light takes in.
"Beatrice" my dad scolds me.
"You really want to know?" He questions. I look up.
"Of course I do...why else would I ask?" He leans on the wall with a smirk. I feel my heart beating fast against my chest.
"Follow me then" I stand up and take a look at my dad. He wears an upset expression. What did I just do?
Step Up Divergent
I follow him down a hall and another. We finally reach a door. He orders me to open it and I do. I find Jeanine sitting on a sofa.
"I'm glad you could make it" she looks at Drew and he steps away. I look at her. She wears a blue dress her hair up in a bun. That's not all I notice...it's Marcus.
"Ever heard of the hunger games?" She questions. Yeah. Who hasn't.
"That futuristic world" I say as lamely as I can.
"Yeah...well" she stands up. I feel myself stiffen. What is she planning? The doors open and people begin to file out of the room. She brings out a gun and offers it to me. I stare at it and back at her "this gun is loaded with one bullet...one out of five places...use it wisely...before he can get to you. Take it"
"What is this?"
"I would just take it Beatrice and ask no questions"
"No, I won't...I will not-"
"Yes you will...unless you want precious Tobias going down the drain...Marcus will do anything possible just see for yourself" I turn to look at him. His hand surrounds the gun. He has a tight grip on it.
She takes my hand and places it in there. She allows the cool metal to take into my hands. I breath in.
"Don't let him get to you...remember who the real enemy is" she whispers. She walks out leaving me and Marcus alone. I look at him.
"You wouldn't do this...would you?"
"Don't play stupid...Jeanine told me the Priors plans...you were all planning to overtake the government" he says. What? "That is why I gave Jeanine that position..."
"Marcus...I- I don't think you should be listening to her she's insane..." I look into his eyes. Tobias eyes. Firm...a secret... I glance at the camera. The light is off "why is she doing this" I ask carefully.
"She's determined for one of us to die...it's not going to be you Beatrice..." my heart starts banging.
"No, I can't-"
"This won't work...just do something...anything" the light comes back on.
"I won't do this!" I yell out. I hear a gunshot fire. What was that.
"I hope you know that the gun is aiming at you Beatrice...do it now" Jeanine orders. Another shot is fired.
"Tris just do it" I feel my own breathing my hands trembling with the gun in hand.
"I won't" I tell him. The gun shoots into the room. A yell escapes my mouth.
"Last chance Beatrice" Marcus looks up. I look up to the gun aiming at me. I feel my vision begin to blur. They will shoot you.
I look at Marcus. Somehow I manage to lift the gun up. He looks at me and nods.
"I'm sorry..." I can't...I can't... I look around searching for anything else. My eyes fall on the only light lighting up the room. I lift the trigger and direct it at the light. No one dies today...I aim at the light and shoot. Just then another gunshot fires...
