Tris POV
Jeanine Mathews former business manager was selected to look over her younger sister Lauren Mathews.
"Oh my god...this gets more interesting by the minute" I scroll down the list of articles. This is what I love about Google search. It has just about anything! But I can't trust social media as much either.
...after the death of Erica and Sean Mathews...they have chosen their youngest daughter to carry on with the family fortune. It is stated that up to now Jeanine has taken charge of the fortune. Will she know how to carefully use this money? Well being a politician she sure knows a lot-
"A politician?" I scroll down.
Jeanine Mathews runs for Governor.
"Wow...the things you don't know about people" a door closes. I glance at the door and don't bother.
"Jeanine Mathews takes over Andrew Priors Job after death...what?! No, we all know my mom took over it. Did she?" I scroll down.
After Andrew Priors death, Natalie took the business into her own hands yet Marcus Eaton has excepted for Jeanine Mathews to place some of her business management into the system.
"My mom never told me this" I whisper. I hear the door open and just as it does my heart beat races.
"Oh my god Tobias...you scared me" I place a hand to my heart as if it would help.
"Sorry" he walks in and sets his things on the floor.
"How was work?" I ask. I know I was rude before but I don't know what other way to be around him. He sits down "what's wrong?" He stays silent. I stare at him in silence.
"Jeanine knows who I am" well that doesn't surprise me.
"She won't do anything against you...it's still a secret..."
"No Tris, that's not the point...the point is that everyone knows because of that stupid guard!" He raises his voice.
"What guard?"
"Who else Tris, as a matter of fact it was you who'd said my name" I think back to the day I was in the hospital. That was my fault. I look down unable to look at him.
"I'm sorry I- I didn't know" I say out of words.
"It happened already it doesn't matter anymore" I note the anger in his tone. I swallow. I know this isn't the right time to talk but...
"My mom isn't in charge of the hotels...Jeanine is" I look up. He looks at me but nothing seems to hit him in the head.
"Does it look like I care?" My lips part and I can't help to smile. Its selfish really and crazy. I laugh.
"You're right...you don't care, cause all you ever think about is yourself. You know maybe I had a reason to get slapped back at the hospital. But you..." I shake my head and get up.
"Where are you going?" He asks. I stop at the door and turn around.
"Apparently you don't care" I walk out but his hand grabs a hold of my arm "let go" I warn him.
"Look I'm sorry okay I just..." he realizes how tight he is holding me. He lets go immediately. It's like he's scared to hurt me. I bite my bottom lip "I understand that I need to change...and I'll do it I just...I can't stand it when other people know about me"
"Maybe that's what Jeanine was looking for you to react this way" I say. Place both hands at my side and lean against the wall. I look down.
"Hey" he leans into me wrapping his arms around my waist. He lifts my chin up so I can look at him "I'm sorry about that" sometimes I forget that Tobias isn't as strong as he looks or seems to be.
