"Research will be the death of me!"
Huminga ako nang malalim at panandaliang ipinikit ang mga mata.
We are in a milk tea shop to finish our laboratory report in research and general Mathematics. Dalawa sa research at tatlo naman sa general Mathematics. Kaming tatlo nila Reni at Shai ang magka-grupo. Kahit kasama namin si Shaira ay hirap na hirap pa rin kaming tapusin... because even if these are only laboratory reports, our works can be denied. There is a chance that our teacher will make us redo our papers.
"Let's just finish these. We won't complete anything if we're only going to complain" ani Shaira.
"Kapag talaga ma-deny 'to!"
Iminulat ko ang mga mata ko. I started typing again.
We are near to ending our second semester. Ilang buwan ay grade 12 na kami. My grade 11 phase goes by very quickly. Parang noong isang araw lang ay pinipilit ko pa ang dalawa na piliin ang GAS. They were considering taking the STEM strand but I recommended to them to choose the GAS strand. Mabuti at pumayag naman sila.
I don't like to be part of STEM students. The expectations given to them are so high. They got compared every time other students from a different strand outstrip their academic capabilities. Students looked up to them as if they were the most genius students of all. Hindi ba puwedeng trip lang nilang mag STEM? Or the course they want to take in college is advisable to take the STEM strand?
"Kapag ginisa tayo, dapat may kumain sa atin after," I said, reminiscing the last time I got sauteed.
Humalakhak si Reni, "Double meaning."
Shaira glared at us threateningly. Natikom ang bibig naming dalawa pero hindi ako nakatiis na tingnan si Reni pagkatapos nang tatlong minuto.
"What?" bulong ni Reni nang siniko ko siya.
"Gabi-gabi ka nalang nasa club, ah?" naningkit ang mata ko sa kan'ya.
He chuckled, "Oo at gabi-gabi rin may kumakain sa akin."
"Sana all."
"Wala ka ng lalaki after kay Stan. Can't recover from his sweet juices?"
I smirked, "Hindi ko lang ramdam mag boyfriend ngayon. We have tons of projects and kapag nagkaroon ako ng boyfriend ay magiging sagabal pa sila."
That's the real reason why I still don't have a boyfriend after Stan. Everyone concluded that I can't move on from him when I don't even need to move on because I didn't fall for him.
Masakit na sa ulo ang mga requirements na kailangan kong tapusin, I don't want to add another headache.
"Babawi nalang ako sa summer. Paramihan pa tayo, eh," hamon ko kay Reni.
"Sure. Kahit mag threesome ka pa," natawa kami pareho.
We both flinched when Shaira slammed the table.
"Are you gonna talk about your boys or do our tasks?" she asked coldly.
Nakakatakot talaga ang babaeng 'to kapag nainis. She became a wild animal if her academics are at stake.
"Hehe. Sorry, beh," nag peace sign ako.
We peacefully resumed. Nakakaloka nga at sobrang tahimik. Literal na walang nagsasalita sa aming tatlo. The silence is bothering my ears.
"Ang tahimik, char," I joked.
They both looked at me. Reni bit his lips to stop himself from laughing. Si Shaira naman ay hindi ako pinansin at bumalik sa pagtipa sa kan'yang laptop.
