He slept so soundly in my arms. His hair was jet black like mine, but he had his mother's ears. His tiny frame fit right in my arms. The sight was enough to nearly make you die in awe. His chest rose and fell softly. My heart fluttered each time he made the slightest noise.
The hospital saved Logan in time. Right now, I'm just waiting on news about Alex. It's been about fifteen minutes since he was delivered. During that session, the majority of fluid was blood. There's a lot of it during birth, but not on that scale.
I, on the other hand, was fine. Just a few scrapes and scratches. But when has that ever effected me? I'm not sure about the people in the accident with us. I saw one brunette being rolled in after Alex. I'm guessing the other person ran for whatever reason.
"Where is she!" A mid height dirty blonde female said, running up to the desk.
"Ma'am, the doctors are looking at-" The receptionist attempted, but was soon cut short by the taller girl.
"My name is Jessie, and she's my girlfriend. I need to know how she is." The girl who I'd assume is Jessie, said, trying to remain calm.
I handed Logan to the RN standing beside me, seeing as they won't allow you to leave the hall with them after a certain period of time, and made my way towards the girl.
"Jessie, right?" I said, placing my hand on her shoulder.
She jumped a bit, and gave me a weird look. "Yes. Why?"
"Your girlfriend, was she in a car accident?" I sounded stalkerish, but I'm a naturally curious person. That's not always the best trait to have.
"Yeah."
"My fiancee and I were as well. If she's the brunette, she seemed fine." I said, in attempt to reassure her.
In all honesty, I'm not sure if she's okay or not. But she didn't look too awfully hurt. Based on the impact, I'd say she has a hurt back and maybe a brused to hell and back sternum. God knows I have a bruised chest.
She gave me a small smile, and sat down in one the the plastic chairs. I walked back over to the RN and got Logan.
"You can go sit with your wife now. She's not awake yet, but they're running the tests." I nodded and followed her back.
This place is so huge, I wouldn't know my way back without her.
We made several twists and turns, turning down different styled hallways. After a while, we turned down a baby blue hall with black and white checkered tile.
She stopped in front of room 604, and gave me a sympathetic smile. I returned it with much regret, and pushed the door open. I despise sympathy.
Alex was lying there, hooked to a breathing machine and random multiple wires and tubes. The sight instantly made my mood drop. She looks so peaceful but broken. They had a cast around her arm, a bandage around her forehead, and a tube run down her throat. She's never looked so vulnerable.
"Lexi." I mumbled.
She's just as beautiful now as she was beautiful then. I sat down beside her, still cradling Logan in my arms. I felt a strong urge to protect him in a way I couldn't protect Alex.
I felt the need to talk to her, wether she'd hear me or not. They say people can hear you when they're knocked out like this, but I never believed it. Until now. Now I'm begging for her to hear.
"Alex baby, Logan is okay. You need to be okay too." I said two sentences, and tears already stung my eyes.
"Please." I've never been so weak.
