I let Byounggon back into his tent during lunch.
He didn't care as much as he previously had once he got back in, thankfully, which meant that we were actually able to talk with each other. we could actually address the very important issue in front of out eyes. And I wasn't talking about Seojun.
"So," Byounggon started, "is Jinyoung any better?"
"Yeah, he's a little better. He wants to meet here later again, by the way. Having the same experience really made it easier for us to talk, I think."
Byounggon blinked. "I figured that's what you were trying to tell me. I only figured it out after you hugged Jinyoung though."
"Well, I guess I don't need to tell you again." I tugged at the hem of my shirt, placing down my fork. "But we need to talk. About this. About us."
"Right." Byounggon also placed down his fork, pushing his plate to the side. "I don't have much to say. I like you, Seunghun, but I don't want to force you into anything if you aren't comfortable."
Of course, Byounggon still had so much respect and kindness left in him. I hoped he'd always stay that way for as long as he lived. "Can I go on a bit of a rant?"
"If you want to."
"Okay." I took a deep breath. "I've never really liked anyone before. Not actually. I was sort of coerced into a few hangouts by my friends, but that's it. I've never liked anyone before, I'd never kissed anyone before, and then you showed up, and now I'm having a crisis. I don't have a label for myself because I've literally never liked anyone until this moment. I don't know what we are, I don't know what I want us to be, and any other questions you ask are doing to be answered with a shitty I don't know."
"That's okay, Seunghun." Byounggon shuffled along the ground, getting closer to me. "It's okay if you don't want to label anything. We can just keep doing this."
"What's this?"
"Whatever you want it to be."
I couldn't help but smile at that. Byounggon was a literal angel. We figure that this could be our thing, our pact, our secret. This could just be us.
