"(y/n), be careful! Who knows what will happen if you fall off the cliff" his mother shouts towards the mischievous White fox.

"I'm fine thanks, the edge doesn't seem that tall and we live on the mountains too, its not like anyone is going to find us right?" (y/n) shape shifts back into his human form, his pointy fox ears twitched back and forth while his 9 tails swayed behind his back.

His eyes almost looked like a girls since he had red eyeliner on them and he was also wearing a yukata. His mother just sighed at how playful her son was.

"come on mother, its not like we're going at war... Unlike those idiots from the human side that is" (y/n) chuckles and sits in front of the table, different dishes filled the single long table as Mrs (l/n) [(y/n)s mom] picks up her chopsticks.

"you should take the warnings seriously, if not then you'll definitely be in trouble"

"how so? I'm not the one who's fighting out there" (y/n) picks up his chopsticks and grabs some meat off the plates and stacks them up onto his bowl of rice.

"one day, you'll see just how cruel the world is. Not everyday is about playing and have fun, you also need to survive too"

"hai hai~~ come on mother, eat some tuna fish!" (y/n) nods and hands a few piece of tuna to his mother.

Boy was she right, the very next day a loud explosion went off causing the citizens to flee for their life. One of them was (y/n) and his mother running deep into the woods and hiding in a far away cave underneath a boulder.

"who knew the humans only know war but not peace... Haaa I wish I could just kick 'em right in the head to knock some sense into some of them" (y/n) lays on the cold stone floor and hears his mother scoffing "this is why I told you that nothing comes out of wars... This is just the beginning for some of them"

(y/n)s ears perk up and hears someone panting outside, he gets up and shapeshifts into his fox form and does a protective pose. "who's there?" he growls and looks at the entrance.

A soldier, looked like a Tengu was holding his stomach with blood spilling out, his left wing was broken and his mouth was literally spilling blood.

"goodness me! (y/n) we need to help this person" (y/n)s mother rushes forward and helps the Tengu to a corner and sits him down. "mom! You can't just bring in a stranger, who knows what will happen if he was in one of the humans possessions??" (y/n) runs over and shapeshifts back to his human form.

His eyes look back at the Tengu with annoyance, not only has their home been terrorised, a random stranger has already came out of nowhere and decided to settle down here with his bloody wound!?

'what rotten luck...' (y/n) sighs and walks away from them, "sorry about my son sir, he's not the type to like outsiders that much since most of his childhood has been... Traumatic..." (y/n)s mother apologises on his behalf and starts to take care of the wound on the Tengu's stomach.

Few weeks passed since the Tengu came and (y/n) learned his name was daichi sawamura, and he was from the Tengu division who were from the miyagi territory.

(y/n) didn't care one bit about him, but after a few days, his mother had to go out and find plants and food to scavange for. Leaving (y/n) to take care of him...

"juuuust great... Listen here buddy, I don't care what you have to say but I do NOT want to have to do anything from you" (y/n) squeezes the cloth and smashes some plants together his mother had taught him when he was a kid.

"sorry for coming into your cave..."

"save your sorry when you leave, why am I always stuck with the worse luck?? Can't it be those ass who can't keep their mouth shut?" (y/n) growls and bares his teeth away from daichi, making him jolt back with shock.

"what? Never seen a kitsunes teeth?" (y/n) opens his mouth slightly and shows his sharp like teeth to daichi. "I have seen people with sharp teeths but I've never seen a kitsunes"

"why? Cause we're always in hiding?" (y/n) lays on his make shift straw bed and shifts into his fox form, his eyes bore into daichi's and drops his ears.

"kitsunes in my territory are very rare since most of them either went to hyogo for protection or their in hiding. The leader of hyogo doesn't allow anyone else other then kitsunes to live there"

"sounds boring, I prefer to adventure to other territories then that place. What kind of territory is that if there's no fun in it?" (y/n) flicks his tail up and down with annoyance and closes his eyes "..." "..." no one talked after that.

The next few days, whenever (y/n) was bored, he would go to daichi and listen to stories he had in store. For example he went to the ancient 1,000 year old sakura tree or the time he watched the night lantern festival and saw thousands upon thousands of lanterns.

(y/n) was fascinated by the stories and even asked daichi if he had ever went to the Tokyo waterfalls.. To which he replied with a nod.

When his mother arrived back, she couldn't help but smile when she saw (y/n) talking to daichi, when the time was right. Maybe he'll become an adventurer himself soon.

"looks like you'll be able to fly and walk out soon enough! Make sure not to strain yourself or the wounds will reopen again"

"I will Mrs (l/n)" daichi flaps his wings and hears (y/n) sighing "then how are we suppose to go back? The house we were suppose to live in was destroyed. Its not like we had another house in the mountains" (y/n) stretches his arms and yawns.

"you two are always welcome in the miyagi territory, just ask for me and they'll let you in without any restrictions" daichi hands both of them a lucky charm, each one had a black crow feather on it.

"thank you daichi, until we meet again soon!" (y/n)s mother said and bows, "until we meet again... I guess?" (y/n) puts the lucky charm into his pocket and shifts into a fox and follows his mother further into the woods to find a new home for the both of them.
