Night Terrors

Akaashi x male reader

No AU

(do note that akaashi has night terrors from from overworking himself [add a tinsy little angst])

"akaashi, I'm sorry but... Your never pay attention to me that much when we first started dating." 

H-huh?... Akaashi looks at (y/n) with fear, sadness... He tries to speak but his mouth wasn't doing as it was told to, "I think it's best for us to break up instead since your so keen on getting into the college you wanted.." the (y/n) before him smiles and held his hand up showing another hand intertwine with his "besides, I think bokuto loves me more than you do-" 

"NO!" akaashi opens his eyelids and breathes in heavily, his eyes slowly adjusting to the dark room with the only light shining from his laptop in front of him... 'godamn it... That's the 4th time this week I've had a nightmare..' akaashi rubs the bridge of his nose and turns off his laptop, he reaches for his phone and checks the time. 

4:40am...

He was asleep for 6 hours?! "ugh..." akaashi groans and slowly rise up from his chair and waddles to the bathroom to quickly splash water on his face. 

He looks at himself in the mirror and sighs, bokuto... 

Before he and (y/n) started dating, (y/n) had a crush on bokuto but was never courageous to tell his feelings to the owl haired guy, instead akaashi took the chance and spend time with (y/n). Little by little everyday, (y/n) slowly took a liking to akaashi but he also didn't have to courage to confess so akaashi did it instead.

'4 years...' akaashi reminds himself and looks down at the basin 'it's been 4 years since we both graduated from high school...' 

It's been 4 years since they graduated from high school, 5 years since bokuto confessed his feelings to (y/n) but STILL gets the same nightmare every night without a single day of sleep...

"... Akaashi?" a comforting voice perks up and makes his way to akaashi's broad back. "(y/n), sorry did I wake you up?" akaashi calms himself down and feels (y/n) shaking his head up "nope, but I miss your warmth.." akaashi laughs, how cute can his boyfriend get? 

"did you have another nightmare again?" (y/n) said, akaashi lets out a sigh and nods his head, (y/n) opens one eye and looks at the shower curtain then glances at akaashi's back, "you know I wouldn't go out with bokuto right?" 

"I know but I-" "but what? Still having doubts again?" (y/n) pulls away from akaashi and makes his way towards akaashi's chest and lays his head on his chest "I just... You... A..." akaashi tries to find the words but only manages to let out a few broken words. "it's okay, take your time keiji." (y/n) leans in more and uses his soothing voice to comfort his shaken boyfriend.

"..." akaashi moves his arms and wraps them around (y/n)'s waist and pulls him close, he hesitates but finally answers "I had a dream where you were leaving me for bokuto.." 

"and?" 

"and you said that I wasn't giving you enough affection..." akaashi hugs (y/n) a bit more tighter and buries his head into his soft (h/c) hair, "affection..? Why would I leave you just to get affection? All I need is you and your smart brains." (y/n) smiles and hugs akaashi back, "I know but I can't help, it felt so real and I was scared that you'll leave me like you did in my dream and-"

(y/n) pulls away and holds akaashi's face in his hands and stared into his blue eyes, "are you going to believe that it's me?" 

"w-what?" 

"do you really believe that the me in your dream was real?" 

"no but-" "then you don't need to worry about anything! Cause the real me won't do anything like that and you know it! That's just your brain tricking you into thinking so." (y/n) pouts and proceeds to lay his head once more onto akaashi's chest. 

"plus, didn't you say that once we get married I won't have to work anymore?" 

'my precious boyfriend!!' akaashi feels his cheeks heating up and wraps (y/n)'s waist with his arms, both stayed in the bathroom for quite a bit not wanting to move. 

"let's go to sleep, I'm tired from standing already." (y/n) pats akaashi's back and gets carried like a sack of potatos to their shared bed. Once they settled in bed, akaashi hugs (y/n) closely to him and kisses his cheek "goodnight keiji." "goodnight (l/n)." 

From then on, akaashi has been planning on buying a ring specially for (y/n) and he doesn't have anymore nightmares too!
