3rd person's POV:

As soon as Y/n and Elizabeth left, the room fell into an awkward silence. Mr. Holbrook spoke first, turning his head towards the Y/lns.

"Are you sure that your daughter is qualified enough to deal with her position and responsibilities? It seems that she's not at all ready for this kind of work. To my mind, she is too young and immature to take part in such meetings, don't you think?" The man asked, tilting his head slightly.

"Are you saying that you don't trust my experience in recruiting and think my daughter is useless here?" Mr. Y/ln counter-questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"By no means. I'm just saying that maybe you should find something easier for her to do, since she has absolutely no experience."

Mrs. Y/ln gave Mr. Holbrook an exasperated look, sighed softly, and headed for the door.

Y/n's POV:
"So...." Elizabeth hesitated a bit before continuing: "Turned out I know you really bad, Y/ln. I had no idea how you truly felt, because every time I saw you from afar while I was here, you looked pretty enthusiastic working on your computer" she finished and smirked at me.

"I'm pretty sure I was playing some games or watching tiktoks at that moments, you know. So I can proudly carry the title of the most useless employee in this company" I joked, knowing damn well that it's actually the absolute truth. It seemed to be hilarious to Elizabeth, because she gave me such a bright smile that I had never seen from her before. And then she ran her eyes all over my body from the bottom to top, which made me blush a little bit. What on earth was that?

In a while I noticed that she put her hands in the pockets of her jacket, her eyes got fixed on the floor, and the smile gradually faded. Before I could ask what was wrong, I heard my mother's voice.

"Girls, you know we can't go on without you, so please come back to the room. There is very little time left, and then you'll be able to have a full chat" she said in a soft tone slightly smiling at us, but I couldn't help but notice the hint of sadness in her eyes even though she avoided direct eye contact with me. Was she really that upset that I walked out in the middle of a discussion? I quickly dismissed this thought and decided to ask her about that after we're done. Elizabeth followed the woman and I walked right behind them.

The rest of the meeting went relatively smooth, the shareholders agreed on an alternative option, and I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief, sharing this emotion with the woman to my right.

I immediately began to pack my things into a small leather backpack, out of the corner of my eye seeing how strangely my parents looked at each other, and Elizabeth just let out a small chuckle at my eagerness to escape as quickly as possible.

"Is that an Iron Man badge?" I heard her speak, standing next to me and looking at small plastic thing attached to my backpack.

"What?"

"Are you an Iron Man fan?" She repeated herself, although I heard her perfectly from the first time, it was just that her question took me by surprise.

"Yes, I just forgot to take it off" I replied filling up with embarrassment.

"Oh, come on, you don't have to be embarrassed by that. I'm kind of a Marvel fan myself" she said casually, but I stared at her with my eyes wide open.

"You-...What?! Aren't you too old and like serious-minded for this stuff?" I smiled, not hiding my excitement and hoping she isn't joking right now.

"Hey!" Elizabeth said with a fake hurt expression. "I'm not much older than you, Y/n. And I thought Marvel has no age restrictions"

"Okay, okay. I just couldn't even imagine you being a superhero fan." I said it honestly. It didn't fit in my head that a woman like her had at least enough time for entertainment, and especially this kind of it. Am I really this wrong about what she's truly like? Only one day and one small talk with her already changed the way I see this woman. And I'd be a complete liar, if I said I didn't like that side of her.
