Chapter 57. Born to tease

Y/n's POV:

The events of recent days have definitely left their mark on our relationship, but strangely enough, in the best meaning of these words. Elizabeth and I became noticeably closer and began to spend almost every free minute together again, enjoying each other's company and creating more and more warm memories together.

Even despite the same huge amount of work as we had before, especially me, we still manage to give each other enough time, love and satisfaction, which gives me even more energy and motivation.

Elizabeth has always been, is and will be the most important part of my life, but now she has to share my attention also with my very project, which I have been working on for a couple of months with my team.

Sometimes I see displeasure in her eyes when I tell her that I'll have to stay late at work, but she still understands everything, knowing how important it is for me and sometimes even staying with us in the office on purpose.

"Darli-ing, how much longer are you going to be busy?" Elizabeth's slightly weary voice comes from behind me as she sits on the wooden table and watches us, reminding me of her presence from time to time.

"Just about half an hour and we'll go home right away," I answer, turning around and immediately colliding with piercing slightly narrowed green eyes, carefully studying my face.

"Y/n, look here," Hailee brings my attention back to her and our work, pointing to one of the calculations. "If we reduce production costs, then the quality may seriously suffer and it's a big risk."

"Yes, and we can't go for it, especially now," I answer thoughtfully, running my eyes over all the numbers on a white piece of paper.

"By the way, El, don't you know if Boyd and Trent are working on something too?" I turn back to my girlfriend, seeing her brows furrow slightly before she stands up and takes a couple of steps towards us.

"Trent told me that he doesn't care about it and just wants to continue getting monthly payments as usual," she replies, walking over to our desk and leaning over it, looking at the various documents scattered on it.

"And Boyd is preparing some business plan, but I don't know any details. I only know that he's really determined about it and has involved a lot of people," she turns her head to me, studying my expression carefully as if trying to read my mind.

Our parents have already announced their intentions to hand over the management of the company to one of us at the last board of directors, and despite the fact that I knew about it earlier, it still causes me a lot of anxiety, mixed with excitement.

My dad explained it by saying that LinCorp really needs modern innovation, otherwise it's in danger of collapse in a short time, but their business views are too old-fashioned to do it and they need someone with a "fresh thinking".

At the moment, my main competitor is Boyd, but I can't let him win the upcoming vote for two reasons: his strategies are safe, but they won't improve the company's business in any way due to their obsolescence, and second, he always looked at me as at someone without any perspectives, therefore putting him on his place would be my personal win.

"You got it," Elizabeth whispers in a low tone into my ear so that only I can hear it and my cheeks flush instantly as I look up at the rest of the people in the office, feeling my girlfriend's hand gently rest on my lower back when her warmth breath teases my neck.

"Gerry, give me the latest marketing report please," someone's loud voice echoes around the room, startling me a little and El removes her hand from my body, kissing me on the cheek before winking at me and returning to her seat.
