They were able to get her heart rate down enough to put Jane onto bypass, causing Cristina and JD to be able to breathe.

Amelia was working on the tumor and looked up to see the two Cardio gods relaxing. "All good down there? It sounds a lot more peaceful here." She asked.

"Yep. God, this poor woman." Cristina looked up, "Suction." "I wish that the hole was a lot smaller." JD muttered, eliciting a chuckle from Cristina. "You've gotten spoiled doing this on hearts half this size."

"Yeah, but kids are easy. I can talk to them and get them to relax about open heart surgery." "That's what Callie tells me. I'm surprised your senior resident didn't come."

"I trust her to run my department, she'll be an attending in a year and she has run it before." JD chuckled, "Bring it over."

"Speaking of which, how is your little girl?" Cristina asks. "Spoiled, but good. She wanted to come, but Maria shot it down." JD smirked under his mask.

"I still want to meet her." Amelia said. "Take some of that PTO you were telling me about and stop by. I'm sure Addie won't oppose to it." JD looked over. "She's what, two now?" Cristina asked. "Not quite, she got a few more months, but she's more than likely gonna be hella smart." JD gushed.

Amelia smiles before returning back to her tumor.

About an hour later, Amelia had finished and decided to go update the Rizzoli-Isles family. She found them in a larger, private cubby. The children were all sprawled out asleep along with Frankie and Tommy. Angela was muttering a prayer and Maura was looking out the window.

Amelia made it past them to Maura. "Doctor Rizzoli-Isles?" Amelia said, causing Maura to turn.

"How is she?" Maura asked. Amelia smiled, "I am a boss and that tumor is outta there." Maura gave a small smile, "How about her heart?"

"They're finishing placing the mesh and should be moving onto the stent here in the next fifteen minutes or so. I told them, I'd check every hour to keep you updated." Amelia squeezed her arm.

Maura let out a soft sigh, "What about the thirty/ninety diagnosis?" "I'm guessing that he said something. Okay, from my end, I don't see there being any difficulties with her waking up. My guess is he wanted to call for one because of the size of the hole, he's worried that her body will recover, but she won't." Amelia said.

"I can't lose her Doctor Shepherd." Maura began to tear up, "I've lost her once and I just got her back."

Amelia pulled her into a hug, causing Angela to look up, "Your wife is in the best hands possible. I don't know Doctor Yang all that well, but I know that she taught Doctor Burr-Montgomery and that they won't give up on Jane. Neither should you. I'm gonna come sit down over here and stay with you. I'll only go check every hour, but it's probably gonna be a very long night and I can't have you passing out here. Okay?"

Maura nods, allowing Amelia to come sit her down.

Several hours had gone by as it was nearing around one in the morning. Amelia stood, tiredly, and walked to the elevator. She went to the OR to check on their progress. From the way things had sounded, they should've finished by now.

Amelia yawned and stretched, grabbing a mask. She expected to see the room empty, not busy.

"What the hell happened?!" She exclaimed watching Cristina and JD work quickly.

"The stent took, but wouldn't attach fully to the mesh. Her heart began to wean itself from bypass and we've been fighting the last hour to put it back on so we can add a second layer." JD quickly explained.

"Shit. Okay, uhhh, do you two need help?" Amelia shook. "Run up to the blood bank and grab two more liters of O Negative, she's losing a bit of blood!" JD yelled.

Amelia nods before making a sprint to the blood bank.

JD was trying not to shake as he went to pull part of the stent out. "Jason, breathe." Cristina said, "I don't need you passing out on me." "Sorry, it's just that we should be done by now and not fighting her damn heart." JD finally got a grip on the stent, "Got it."

"Good, can we pump more electrolytes and fluids? I want to get her on bypass here in three minutes." Cristina looked to the anesthesiologist. He nods before pushing more of what was asked.

"Jesus." Cristina looked to the intern next to her, "Suction." The intern nods, fumbling with the suctioner.

"Two minutes."

They almost had her where they wanted too.

"One minute."

The monitor shrilled before all of a sudden dipping.

"She's coding. Push one of Epi. Jason, you better get the stent out now!" Cristina yelled.

"Almost have it." He says, tongue sticking out of his mouth.

"Paddles!" Cristina turned to grab them, "Charge to ten. Jason, get the fuck out of there!"

"I almost have it!" He yells pulling quicker.

"Paddles charged." "Get out of there now, I'm not asking again!" "One more second!"

"Jason Dean! Now is not the time to play hero! Get out!"

"Got it!" He stepped back, stent in his tweezers. "Clear!" Cristina called.

Shock!

Nothing.

"Compress it, charge to twenty."

The buzz built up.

"Clear!"

Shock.

Nothing.

"Shit! Charge to thirty!"

The buzz built up once more.

"Clear!"

Shock.

Nothing.
