Fall had come into the Northeast late September and had made the campus of Robin Herman Children's Hospital stunning. The reds and yellows settled on the grass, sidewalks and parking lots.

JD loved this time of year.

It reminded him of playing football at Stanford and meeting his wife.

His wife, Maria, was the co-head of Fetal Surgery. They met shortly after he had moved there from Switzerland and had hated each other for weeks until Callie made him apologize for being a prick.

After that the two began hooking up, which resulted in their now two year old daughter, Caylie.

JD was grateful for being alive to see her grow up after being shot near the heart just hours before she was born. After waking up in the CVICU at Mercy, he made sure that he would spend every moment he could with his daughter.

Which included taking her to the daycare at the hospital.

"Alrighty Miss Caylie," He said, squatting down to her eye level, "I'll be back around lunchtime for some snuggles." "Marshmallows?" She asked with a crooked grin.

"Yes Baby Girl, I'll bring marshmallows." He chuckled, "But remember, don't tell Mama." "Shhh." "Shhh." He kissed her forehead as she began to walk towards the toys, "Be good. I love you."

"Bye bye Papa." She waved him off. JD stood up, a little butt hurt as he watched her walk towards the toys.

"They grow up fast don't they?" He nearly jumped as he turned to find Callie. "She waved me off. I'm a little hurt." He says as they begin to walk away.

"It'll only get worse, trust me." Callie laughed as they rounded the corner to the sky bridge to head towards the other side of the hospital. "She's only two and she's already like her mother." JD chuckled before freezing.

"Is that..?" "Yeah..."

At the bottom of the stairs, Rey was talking to Jane Rizzoli. "Didn't you and Cristina clear her?" Callie asked. "Yeah, I'm not sure why she's here though." JD went down the steps, "Hey Jane, long time no see."

"Hey, I am really sorry for bothering you, but is there some place we could talk?" She looked exhausted as if she hadn't slept in days. "Uh, sure. Callie, can I borrow your office?" He turned.

Callie nods and tossed him the keys, "Lock up when you're done."

He nods before leading Jane back up the stairs, across the sky bridge and to Callie's office.

"What's going on? I know you haven't had your appointment with the Cardiologist in Boston." JD asks as he sat on the edge of Callie's desk.

"I need to talk to Doctor Shepherd and I remember her saying that she'd be here this week." "She gets here next week...Jane, what's going on?"

Jane sighed before moving her hair out of her eyes, "I had a nightmare and I nearly killed Maura. I woke up with Tony holding me down and screaming at me to stop."

JD's eyebrows knit, "When did this happen?" "Last night...I didn't want to wait until Friday to see Doctor Holiday and I knew that Doctor Shepherd was going to be here."

"She's not your trauma specialist." "I know, but what if the tumor came back?"

JD pulled his phone out of his pocket, "I'll text her, but she will be the one to order an MRI and CAT Scan." "Thank you." "No problem, now, do you know where you'll be staying?" "No. No, I haven't gotten that far."

JD pulled out his wallet, "Here's two fifty, there's a hotel across the street. It's for parents and close family, but give them this card and tell them to call me if they have any problems." He wrote his number on the back of one of Callie's business card.

"Thank you." "You're welcome, now in the meantime, I will be calling Doctor Holiday and fly him up for an emergency session. I'll text Rey and have her show you where to go."

Jane smiled before getting up. She was just about to exit the office when JD stopped her, "And Jane? Next time you come to New York, call ahead of time and don't just show up."

"I will. Thank you." "No problem."
