No matter where I go, I will always be a jersey girl, case closed, end of story. In my heart I belong at the beach with the comfort sound of the ocean the feeling of the sun shining on my face, even those noisy seagles. I hope I will always live here. I feel like most people say "I never want to stay in Jersey I have to get away." But me? I think this state is perfect, especially the weather. I'm grateful I live so close by the ocean. Anyway you'd think that I have blond hair right? Nope. Brown hair, although I do get natural highlights in the summer time. I do have blue eyes though. Shockingly I'm athletically challenged, I can't even surf. I know I'm ashamed of it too. I'm finally relaxing after a crazy day of school watching one of my favorite shows, Family Guy. It doesn't come close to Pretty Little Liars. During the commercials I hear my parents talking and I know this is bad, but I decide to go eavesdrop.
"She already graduated, it shouldn't be a problem for her. Besides when we tell her where we're moving to she'll be so excited." That's my dad, Paul. I felt my heart start pounding in my chest. We're moving?
"We need to tell Lolita tonight." My mom, Helen said.
I decide to enter the kitchen. "Tell me what?" I asked.
"You're father and I decide it's time for a change." My mom said.
"So." My dad looked at my mom and she nooded at him for encouragement.
"We are moving to Seattle." I could feel my jaw drop. Seattle?! There are tons of nineties rock bands that are from Seattle. Alice in Chains, Nirvana, and my favorite band of all time: Pearl Jam. In fact they still live there!! I started jumping up and down.
"No way!! Wait is Steve and Gracie coming with us?" I asked. Steve is my youngest brother who is twenty-five. Gracie is my oldest sister who is in her thirties. I'm praying they're at least moving close to Seattle, because it would kill me being away from my two nieces: Carly and Cassandra.
"Yes everyone is moving close by us." My mom said happily. I started jumping up and down. "I can't believe we're going to Seattle!!" I squealed. My parents laugh.
"How long do I have to say good-bye to Krisite and Megan?" I asked, feeling my heart in my throat.
"It's going to take about two weeks to get everything packed up." My dad said soothingly.
"Plus, with technology so advanced these days you guys can keep in touch." Said my mom.
"Yeah that's true. No I'm fine with it really, I'm so excited." I said, feeling extravagent.
"When do you think you'll tell them?" Asked my mom.
"Probably tomorrow morning in the chorus room. I don't want to call them because I'll end up crying and then they won't be able to understand me." I said, feeling a little bit sad that this is actually going to be happening.
"That's a good idea." Said my mom nodding her head, approvingly.
"You better get some sleep, the next couple of weeks is going to be crazy!!" My dad said.
"Oh yeah it will be. Night mom, night dad." I sighed as I went upstairs to pick out an outfit for school. I decided on a plaid purple buttoned down shirt, with skinny jeans and my black boots since tomorrow it's supposed to be really cold out. I got into my favorite pair of pajamas, a white shirt with a cupcake on it that says "Sweet". My pants are fluffy, mixed with pink and white. I got into bed and fell alseep immeaditely. Before I knew it, my alarm clock went off. I groaned and got out of bed knowing that I should just do it. I brushed my teeth, washed my face, got dressed and went down stairs to eat breakfast. Before I got a chance to do that, my dog Oreo whined at me. Her face is black and the rest of her body is white. I opened the door of her crate and took her outside to pee. She sniffed around for a few minutes and finally she went. I was in a rush to get to school, I want to spend as much time in the chorus room as I can. When we got back inside, I shoved a granola bar down my throat anxious to go.
"Someone's in a rush huh?" My brother Steve said. He's subbing until he gets an offical teaching job. He is also in a band.
"Yes, I am. Ready mom?" I asked, before giving Steve a dirty look. We bicker all the time.
"Yes I am." We brought Oreo with us for the ride, (she loves the car) and we finally got there. I opened the door to Ortley High School and took a deep breath before going into the chorus room.
