Time Capsule

Spencer's phone buzzed on the table in front of him, taking his attention away from the emails he'd been responding to on his computer.

JJ's name shined brightly on his phone, and he chuckled, already knowing where the conversation was going to go.

"It's time! We are officially 20 years removed from our senior year of high school and that means we have a time capsule to open!!! Everyone needs to respond with their schedules for the next few weeks, we have a trip to take."

Asher was the first to respond.

"We're going to be arguing over who's sleeping on the floor at the cabin. It's like no time has passed at all."

Jordan, Patience, and Simone laughed at his text before Liv jumped in, clearing some things up.

"Actually, Spencer and Dillon agreed to do an extension of the cabin, so no one has to sleep on the floor now." Liv chimed in. "It looks very different from what you guys remember."

Spencer finally responded, confirming that they would be able to use the cabin for their reunion and time capsule opening.

"Just let me know what days we want to be there so I can go up early and have everything ready. Can't wait to see you guys!"

The group agreed on going up the same weekend that their senior skip day had been all those years ago, excited to see if their lives were anywhere near their predictions.

The day before their scheduled meet up, Spencer and Olivia said goodbye to their children, knowing that Billy, Laura, Grace, and D'Angelo would spoil them while they were gone.

"We'll be back in a few days, listen to your grandparents." Olivia instructed their three children as she hugged and kissed them all before stepping aside so Spencer could do the same.

Olivia then turned her attention to her parents, thanking them for taking care of her kids, knowing that Jordan and Simone's kids would also be here with them starting tomorrow.

"If you need anything, call me." Olivia told both Laura and Grace. The two of them just hugged her before sending her on her way, not concerned at all about their grandkids.

The drive up was peaceful and nostalgic for Spencer and Olivia. They still came up to the cabin with their kids, but it was different to be going up there alone.

"You excited to see everybody?" Spencer asked, his eyes still on the road, as he moved his right hand to her thigh.

"Honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing JJ more than anyone else." Liv admitted, laughing at the side eye her husband shot her. "I don't always get to see him when I'm on the east coast, so I've been missing his chaos."

Spencer nodded his head in agreement, JJ had moved to New York years ago and it was hard to get time with him, it really would be great to see him.

"I'm biased, but I'm looking forward to seeing Coop." Spencer said with a smile. Coop had taken up song writing and producing after she stopped rapping. That career change came with moving to Atlanta which is where she's been for the last few years now. "It'll be really nice to spend some time with her this weekend."

Spencer and Olivia pulled up to the cabin, both of them taking in the serenity that came with being out in the secluded area, and shared a soft smile as the memories of the times they'd spent here came flooding back in.

"This is always going to be a special place for us." Spencer began as he started taking their bags out of the car. "Isaiah took his first steps here. Aaliyah learned how to ride a bike up here. The first time SJ said he wanted to play football was after finding out tapes of me and Jordan here. Dillon proposed to Kiara here."
