A/n: I read an episode synopsis, think it was for episode 17, that said Spencer and Olivia were going to have some moments that showed that they've grown as people and how that growth could shift their relationship so here's a little something for the folks that want to see Spencer get a little jealous.
Spencer had always been attentive. It was one of those things that attracted Liv to him, he just paid attention to the things that other people would assume weren't important. Every changed hairstyle, every new outfit or pair of shoes, he noticed them all.
When Liv started to stress about deadlines, he noticed before she said anything. When she decided to chop three inches of her hair, his dramatic reaction showed her that she shouldn't cut it again. So, when Olivia started working later and spending more of her free time with her coworkers, he knew that something had shifted.
----
Spencer and Jordan stood in the center of the courtyard waiting for an already tardy Olivia.
"Did she text you?" Jordan asked Spencer as he looked around for his twin.
Spencer couldn't hide his frustration as he shook his head. Olivia had been MIA the last few days and it was starting to bother him more than he'd like to admit.
Before Spencer could respond to Jordan, the sound of Olivia's laughter was heard and both boys turned in the direction of the sound to see Liv and a few of her coworkers. Both Spencer and Jordan tensed up when they saw that Olivia was accompanied by Ryan. Ryan was a nice guy, a little too nice if you asked Spencer and Jordan. He always found ways to be available for Olivia, popping up in all those moments where Spencer would rather be alone with Liv, and it drove both of the boys crazy. They'd brought it up to Liv, but she honestly thought he was harmless. He was just a guy that she worked with that had a good sense of humor and was always willing to help her sort through her ideas since her boyfriend and brother were so busy.
"I can't stand that guy." Jordan said as he rolled his eyes. "He's too nice to her and she doesn't even notice."
Before Spencer could chime in, Olivia had finally seen that they were waiting for her and rushed toward the boys with a bright smile.
"Hi Doofus." Liv greeted as she gave Jordan a quick hug before turning her attention to Spencer and wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him tight.
"I missed you." Liv whispered into his neck before pulling back to press her lips against his and began telling the boys all about her day, completely oblivious to the tension that radiated off of Spencer and Jordan as they looked at Ryan.
"I'll text you later Liv." Ryan called as he began to walk away.
"Bye Ryan, see you later." Liv waved with a smile before launching back into talking to Spencer and Jordan.
"I still don't like that guy." Jordan mumbled causing Liv to roll her eyes.
"Ryan is just a friend, Jordan." Ryan had been working at the LA Tribune for the past two years and as a junior, he knew how to navigate journalism and still be a college student with a social life and that was something Olivia was trying to learn. Ryan had taken her under his wing and had been nothing but helpful to Olivia, so she truly didn't understand the distain her brother and her boyfriend held for him.
Spencer didn't say a word, he just rolled his eyes and fumed silently. He knew what it looked like when someone was romantically interested in Olivia Baker, he'd worn that look himself, and he'd be damned if he began to wear the look of regret that her ex's wore.
Spencer never hid his concern or distain for Ryan, he'd told Olivia how he felt, and she'd reassured him that she didn't see Ryan as anything other than a friend. He'd brought it up again and she'd reminded him that what Ryan was to her, Davita is to him. That statement ended the conversation quickly and every other time that Spencer became annoyed about Ryan, he kept it to himself.
