The drive was silent for a while and she looked out of the window

"What happened between you and Gerald? I thought you were going to get married to him eventually"
"Plans changed and I called off the wedding"
"You called it off? Why would you do something like that?"
"I was twenty-two. Why would I get married at Twenty two? Besides he was a lying cheating bastard. He just needed me as a platform to grow his own business. So when I found out, I waited till it was a night before the wedding before calling it up and all the guests that came, we had a party together to celebrate my success story"
"Are you crazy? When did you find out who he was?"
"I found out like two months to the wedding"
"And you waited until the very last day? What for?"
"Nothing. I just waited because I wanted to. It is that simple"

Dylan looked at her and scoffed. He had never seen someone as crazy as she was. He missed that craziness. He dated a series of girls after Wanda, he realized that nobody could make him happy. He was just twenty-five now and he did think about settling down. He had his life planned out. He wanted to eventually get married at Twenty eight but right now, he was still single and he didn't want anybody else but her. How the hell was he going to tell her that? He couldn't even hold a conversation with her without getting nervous. It is so funny that he had bought this book, on how to get over an ex and it had been a bloody waste of time and money because he definitely wasn't over this ex. It has been how many years now? Five maybe and she was still stuck in his head. He should probably tell her though. Not that he loves her, definitely not. He was never going to tell her that, not anytime soon. He felt that she had moved on from all of this, all of him and now, maybe she was probably with Arthur.

"So, how about you?" She asked, interrupting his thoughts
"Me? What about me?"
"Why aren't you married yet?"
"Who do you want me to get married to?"
"I don't know. Your series of girlfriends that were always on your Instagram page"
"You stalk me?" Dylan asked
"I don't stalk people. I follow you on Instagram and you follow me too so it is not strange news that I come across posts from your Instagram feed every time"
"Oh, that makes perfect sense. Well, I can't get married to any of the girls I dated because all of them are shallow-minded. They just want money and more money. They don't even want to learn how to make the money for themselves. They just want someone to make it for them and it made no sense. I mean for someone who likes to spend a lot, they ought to work equally as hard but these girls were not interested in that. I was doing the work and they were all up on my income. I just had to let them go. It was toxic for me because they didn't reason, not the way you did"

He said and she smiled. Why had he complimented her at the end? He looked at her and saw her smiling. He smiled to himself. She still had those killer dimples. She looked out the window. A thought popped up in his head

"Hey, are you in a hurry to get back home?" He asked her
"No, I'm not, why?" She asked
"Nothing much. There is just something I want you to see"

He said, taking a sharp turn and heading back to the route they had come from. He increased his speed and drove like they were being chased on the highway. He eventually got there. He parked the car

"Where is this?" Wanda asked, not seeing anything spectacular but darkness
"Just come out. It is not twelve yet"
"It is almost midnight. It is too late to be out here in the middle of nowhere"
"It is not nowhere. You should really get out or you are going to miss it and you are perfectly safe here, I promise"

He said. She sighed and she got out of the car and stood in front of it. She stared and looked at it. She saw nothing

"There is nothing here"
"Would you just wait? It always happens at midnight. It happens at twelve on the dot"

She leaned against the car and sighed. She should have said she was in a hurry. He would have dropped her off and that would have been the end of their little excursion

"Why exactly are we out here?"
"What do you mean? I told you, it happens at 12!"
"Whatever"

She said as she brought out her phone. She unlocked it and she saw that a text has come from Arthur

"Now you are not picking up my calls? Wanda, is there something you would like to tell me? We are adults here. I feel like I am the only one pushing this friendship of ours here and I want to be more than a friend to you and you know this. Is that why you are avoiding my calls and not replying to my texts? Are you trying to take advantage of the fact that I have feelings for you? Anyways, I am just calling to get an answer from you. Text me when you want"

She sighed. Dylan sat next to her and  read the text

"Are you seeing him?"

Dylan asked. He didn't understand. Why would he speak to her that way if he wasn't her boyfriend?

"I don't know," she said honestly
"You don't know? What is that supposed to mean Wanda?"
"He did ask me out and I did say I was going to think about it"
"Did you say yes?!"

Dylan asked, already hurt
