The wedding date came closer. The bridal shower was tonight and Brie wasn't sure if Wanda was going to come for it tonight. The wedding was next week and she was not still sure if Wanda was going to be her maid of honor but she decided not to ask somebody else. If Wanda decided not to do it, so be it! She was going to have her wedding without a maid of honor then. The bridal shower started at seven in the evening. Since it was a Friday, they planned on partying all night. Wanda wasn't around when it started
"Do you think she would come?"
Brie asked as she walked up to Helen
"Considering all that you said to her, I don't think she would be coming and if she does, she would be very distant and cold towards you but if you do want to find out if she is coming it not, you should probably give her a call to find out where she is and if she is coming"
"I would have but I don't think she would pick up my calls anymore. We haven't spoken since I lashed out at her wrongfully. She stopped picking up my calls and now, I'm guessing she isn't picking up yours either. I guess we both have some making up to do"
"Yeah, you're probably right"Helen said as she looked at her drink. They heard the doorbell and Brie went to answer it. She opened the door and saw Wanda. She was surprised to see her. She didn't know she was going to attend
"Hey, I was starting to think you were not going to come for the party"
"I didn't come for that. Is Beth here? She asked me to bring some things for her and she said she was going to be here so I decided to drop by here and give them to her"
"Since you're here, why don't you wait and join in the fun?"
"Join in the fun?" Wanda scoffed. "I only have fun with my friends and you're not one of them. I also wouldn't be your maid of honor next week. Beth said she would gladly fill the vacant spot. I already told the tailor to adjust the dress for her and it is done already. I would try to drop by at the wedding if I can and if I can't, I would send the wedding present through Ken"
"And you don't think you're taking this thing too far? You don't think you're over punishing me? I mean, I'm sorry!"
"Take a plate when you're done here and throw it against the wall, then walk up to it and tell it sorry then check if it fixes up the plate"
"It doesn't," Brie said
"Exactly. Sorry doesn't fix it, it doesn't fix anything. I don't think I want you in my life anymore and I think I'm entitled to that opinion and that choice"
"And you're going to do the same for your siblings too?"
"Don't bring my siblings into this. Whatever is going on between us is none of your business. Stay out of it!"Wanda said as she raised her voice a little but more than enough to attract attention. Helen saw her at the door and walked up to her. She touched Brie who walked away, trying to hold back her tears
"Are you going to go about hurting everybody?"
"Is everybody going to grow up and stop hurting me? You all act like I'm the bad person here like I'm the one that started all this nonsense. I was the perfect friend, the perfect sister and what did I get in return? Betrayal and lies, that's what! I have to go. Do me a favor and give this to Beth"She said as she handed it to her sister. She walked to her car and got in. She pulled out of the compound and went home. Maybe she was overreacting but she didn't care. She was going to react until it stopped hurting her and that was when she was going to stop punishing everybody else. Call that immature but she was less bothered about what people thought of her. She got home and pulled out her phone. She opened a text
"I know it's weird but would you like to grab coffee sometimes? Yeah, it's Dy"
She looked at the text. What the hell was she supposed to say? She thought. If she said no, then he would think that she hadn't moved on from him and she was still angry but if she said yes, it might give him the impression that she was still into him and that was the wrong message to pass across so she said,
"I would think about it"
"You said that the last time and we never got to grab dinner together but you've been busy grabbing dinner with the managing director of Vogue. If you're going to turn me down, you can as well do that now please"She immediately got irritated by his reply. Who the hell did he think he was? Who did he think he was to talk to her?
"Fine, no!"
She replied and tossed her phone on her bed. She dropped on the bed and curled up and closed her eyes. She was just twenty-three. She was way too young for this stress. She had grown up too early and it was starting to affect her in ways she didn't want. She took deep breaths. She should have just dropped her pride and stayed for the party. Her phone rang, Arthur
"Hey beautiful," he said as she picked up the call
"Hey, what's going on?"
"I was thinking if you would like to grab a couple of drinks with me tonight"
"I'm sorry, I can't. I had a really long day and I need to get some rest. We could reschedule though"
"Nah, that's fine. I would call you tomorrow then, get some rest"He said as he hung up. Why did he sound so upset?
