Gabriel eventually came home really late and Valery was gone. He had dinner, had his shower and he went straight to bed only that he couldn't sleep. He suddenly found out how big the bed was. He looked at her side of the bed. He wasn't used to it being empty. He wanted to pick up the phone and then give her a call, apologizing for not handling things well and breaking up with her but he felt that he needed to do that. Alright, maybe she was right. He was starting to develop whatever you would like to call it, feelings maybe for Wanda and he wasn't going to lie about it anymore but he swore that they were just feelings and it came with hanging out with her so much especially since she lost her dad. They had been together, worked from her place, and had lunch and sometimes dinner with her. He knew it wasn't an excuse to cheat on Valery so he didn't. He was willing to put whatever feelings he had behind him just because of her but what he couldn't take was being accused of cheating when he wasn't and that stunt she pulled could have cost him his job! Maybe he was just overreacting but to an extent, he knew that he didn't defend Wanda just because of his job alone. He defended her because a part of him wanted and felt he needed to. He sighed and rubbed his forehead. What the hell was going on with him? The last thing that should be happening is his developing feelings for his best friend's ex-girlfriend whom he was still into. He sighed and turned to his side again. He picked up his phone and texted Valery

"Hey, are you okay?" He asked, he didn't know what else to say
"Am I okay? Of course not! You just ended our relationship. How the hell am I supposed to be okay?"
"You accused me of cheating Val"
"Didn't you?" She asked
"Of course not. Val, it is you I love or I thought I loved"
"Thought you loved? What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing, never mind. I apologize"
"Why did you break up with me? Just because of Wanda?"
"I didn't break up with you because of Wanda! Stop with your sick theories. I would never go after Wanda. Not because she's not beautiful enough or smart enough or sweet enough. She is! But it is only because I respect my best friend!"
"You know, I was expecting the reason to be me?"
"I'm sorry but it's not. She treats me better than you do. You don't have time for me yet you have time to hang out with your male best friend!"
"He is my best friend!'
"And I am your boyfriend for goodness sakes! Who is supposed to be more important to you? He has a damn girlfriend and he would hang out with her before he thinks about hanging out with you!"
"No, he wouldn't. He would choose me any day over her"
"Well, I can't have that anymore! I can't be the third wheel. If you want your best friend so bad then go for him. I wouldn't be treated like an option in my relationship. I can't"
"You're asking me to give up my best friend?"
"I'm asking you to give me the attention I deserve!"
"Well, I can't because I can't give what I don't have Gabriel. I am shuffling between work and all"
"But you still have time to hang out with Nick don't you?"
"I can't believe you're saying this right now!"
"You better. You talk about how I cheated on you with Wanda and even when I didn't, I still feel like I should have. She gave me her attention. She gave me everything. She called me even when we were working from her house. She would call to know if I'd gotten home and if I'd had dinner when I didn't eat at her place. She is way busier than you are and she still does this for her friend and you're here telling me you can't fit me into your schedule but you can effortlessly fit in Nicholas. Can you even read your texts right now?"
"I can and you're just being selfish!"
"Then maybe I am selfish for wanting the attention of my girlfriend! I can't go on with you, not this way. I'm sorry. It's over. Hope you do find someone who would be willing to be the third wheel because if you don't, you'd end up alone, and trust me, even Nicholas would get married and move on with his life!"

He hit the send button and tossed his phone to the side. It broke his heart that it had to come to an end. He knew it was going to end when Nick started to get the attention he was supposed to get. He thought he could talk her into giving him the same attention but she was just stuck on her best friend. She felt like he was her world and he wasn't. He closed his eyes and a tear escaped from them and rolled down his face. It hurt as hell. He was thinking about getting married to her. He was going to ask her to marry him on her birthday which was about six weeks away. He slept off. Dylan came into his room and found his best friend asleep. He wasn't going to believe that Gabriel did like Wanda. If he did, he was going to leave Wanda for him. She deserved someone like him. He was always there for her. He went to her place and even though it was strictly because of their job, Gabriel knew how Wanda was fairing way much better than Dylan himself did. If he did care about her more than a friend, then he was going to step out of the way so they could be more than just friends.
