DAY EIGHT

As we all face off against the war-god, he gestures to the surrounding destruction and gloats, saying, "Well, little sister, I do hope you like what I've done with the place. I'm thinking that I should probably erect a temple, here."

"You did this?!" demands an absolutely seething Diana.

And two massive beasts land on either side of Diana's half-brother. The one to Ares' left looks like a furry dragon with lion paws and a snake for a tail, and the creature to his right looks like a dangerous mix between an eagle, a lion, a goat, and a snake.

"I decided that I would try my hand at being a, um, what do mortals call it? Ah, that's it. A geneticist. Do you like my pets, little sister? I made them, myself. To my right, I have a griffin/chimera hybrid, and to my left, a pairing between a dragon and a chimera."

"Why, Ares?!" demands Diana. "My mother and sisters have done nothing to deserve this from you!"

"Oh, maybe not your 'sisters', dear sister," spits the war-god, "but your mother. She did do something: She bore you by my father. It broke my mother's heart. That's why she tried to kill you as much as she did. Because she hates you and your mother just as much as, if not more than I do. I want you and your people laying dead under my feet. And it actually does my heart good knowing that I was able to do what Hera failed to do every time she tried: Kill both queens of the Amazons!"

"Guess again, tall, dark, and dingy," says Selina. "You want Diana, you go through all of us, first."

"Starting with me," I add, before charging at Ares headfirst, punching him a considerable distance away, and then hitting him with a sustained blast of heat vision at full power.

Then I look back and see Diana looking at her bracelets, and I race back to her as she says, "I've tried everything to access this power that I know I have in me, but nothing is working."

"Okay, this may be a horrible idea," I say, "but maybe your mom meant that the key to unlocking your star potential wasn't in the bracelets, per se, but instead... in taking them off."

She looks at me with an expression that can only be translated into speech as "eureka", she slides her arms out of the ridiculously heavy bracelets, and their incredibly hard impact creates two craters in the ground.

At that moment, she immediately starts exuding power. Like, visibly. Her eyes begin shining like two miniature blue suns, her armor turns black, every line in her armor begins to glow either red, gold, or blue, depending on what area one's looking at, the lines in her tiara and arm cuff begin glowing gold, and all three of her star rubies begin shining brilliantly. White electricity starts crackling off of Diana's body like she's connected to the Speed Force, and her sword and shield begin to glow. Finally, she begins radiating an aura of magical energy that changes from blue, to gold, to red, then back to gold, and repeats. Truly, Diana is exuding her godhood.

And I think Ares just made a mistake which might cost him his life.

Then, Diana starts calling shots. "Lois, go with Donna, Kori, and Selina. The three of you protect Lois and my mother's body. Let nothing happen to it or to the blessing in Lois' womb. Cassie, Iris, Dick, Bridgette, search for survivors. Those that are not injured too badly are to help you in your search, and those that are very badly injured are to be escorted as quickly and carefully as possible to the Hall of Medicine and Healing, and Cassie knows where it is. Kal, Bruce, Barry, Kon, hold off the beasts. If you can kill them, and you see your chance, do it. I will handle my brother."
