Kent Farm | Smallville, Kansas
Friday, September 26, 2025 | 18:15 CSTAfter Pa's funeral, Lois and I decided to stay with Ma for a bit, to help her finish wrapping up Pa's final affairs, and then we're back to Metropolis.
Meanwhile, the kids are still attending Metropolis Horizons Academy, and Bruce has asked Alfred to stay in our home and take care of it while we're away.
We're also still working the Luthor case, trying to get a bead on possible locations he could possibly be in. But Luthor's smart. That's why he's successfully been such a pain in all our asses. He's probably got even more, extremely deeply hidden money and resources, and if he's already accessed it, he's likely already in the wind and out of the country. But, we're the Justice League of America. We'll find him. Eventually.
And there's still not only the lingering threat over Lena's head, but over Lana's, too. As much as Lana may be enjoying her time spent with Bruce, Selina, and Damien, I'm quite sure she also wants to get back to her own life. Anywho...
So now, as we're helping Ma sift through the last of the rest of Pa's stuff, Lois and I get an alert from the Watchtower about possible leads on Luthor. We also get another alert on the possible whereabouts of Kent Clark, the one who contracted Deadshot to unalive my childhood friend.
So, eager to close two cases at once, Lois and I leave Jon and Elli with Ma, and we split up. Lois tells me to work the Lana angle, and she'll take the Luthor angle. And when I ask Bruce over the comms if the intel concerning this Kent Clark character is rock-solid, he tells me that it is, and that he'll meet me in Gotham. So I kiss Lois goodbye and say, "I'll meet up with you a little bit later, babe. Bruce thinks we can potentially put an end to the threat on Lana's life in Gotham."
"Alright, mi amor," Lois responds. "See you in a few hours?"
"Possibly," I say, smirking. "I make no promises..."
Gotham Cathedral | Gotham City, New Jersey
Friday, September 26, 2025 | 19:20 EDTI approach Bruce as he crouches, perched, on one of the gargoyles of Gotham Cathedral. I say, "Hey, man. What do you have for me?"
"An address," Bruce says, as he stands up on top of the absolutely grotesque statue. "1400 Robinson Plaza, the entire penthouse floor. He lives here, in the city. In Gotham."
And he suddenly jumps off the building and sends an electrical current through the memory cloth in his cape, activating the material and opening it up into the shape of a gigantic pair of black bat wings. Then, he lets the air currents do the rest, leaning and dipping depending on how fast he wants to go, how high or low he wants to go, and in which direction.
As I follow closely behind him, he also tells me, "And change into your black suit. I want to put the fear of God into this man before we turn him over to the police."
1400 Robinson Plaza | Gotham City, New Jersey
Friday, September 26, 2025 | 22:30 EDTBruce had us stalk this guy all evening, because he said he wanted it to be good and dark when we finally took this guy in.
It's now half-past ten, and Bruce has shut down the power to the entire penthouse floor. He's also had us break in, and we are now watching him run around scared, trying to figure out how to turn his lights back on, and we're in his bedroom.
When he comes into his bedroom, he doesn't see us, because we blend so well into the dark that, if I were anybody else, I'd have severe trouble trying to see us.
When he climbs into his bed, Bruce and I get near him, and we hear the faint clicking sound of his firearm underneath his pillow.
All of a sudden, Kent jumps up and takes aim at me, and I swifty-but-deftly grab the barrel of the gun, blocking the exit for the bullet in the chamber. When the gun goes off, the bullet ricochets off of my hand, and right back into the gun itself, which makes it explode as it misfires, badly injuring Mr. Clark and completely destroying his gun.
