Wednesday, November 5, 2025 | 11:28 EDTAfter about a few months of online classes, we're allowed to go back to school. And today, after my twin sister and I breeze through the calisthenics assignment our gym teacher gave us to work on while he went into his office to go do whatever, we then work on our Taekwondo techniques with each other. Aurora is off on her own, stretching. Like she needs to, honestly... (Note the sarcasm...) And Landon, after completing the calisthenics assignment, goes off into a corner and works on trying to tweak his oscillator device.
But out of the corner of my eye, I see a Latino kid with a large build, probably the same age as Elli and me, jump on the oscillator! And he smashes it to maple syrup-smelling 3D-printed PLA scraps, glass shards, and scrap metal. And he doesn't just stop at jumping on it the one time. After it's smashed, he then starts stomping on it like he's skipping rope, and it is plain for anybody with eyes to see that the oscillator device is completely beyond repair.
Then he says, smirking, "Thought I'd stop you from trying to kill Superman and take over the world, like your dad. You should thank me. I'm helping you Luthors stay outta trouble. Everyone knows that everything a Luthor makes always ends up trying to kill Superman, take over the world, or both."
At this point, I am extremely angry, and Elli senses it, because she holds me back, and I can't escape her grasp. She looks at this jerk and says, "I'll handle him."
To which I take a moment to think about it, and respond, "No, Elli, wait. This is neither the time nor the place."
"But Landon's our friend!" cries Elli, "and you and he worked too hard on that oscillator-thingy for that jerk to just come along and smash it to bits. And he just insulted Landon! We can't just stand here and do nothing!"
"We're not doing nothing," I retort. "We're waiting for the right opportunity. Think about it: If we jump in, now, we're the ones in trouble with the school. But if we wait, we get him back, where a whole bunch of people will be watching. Revenge will taste so sweet, when we're done."
Then, the same guy walks towards me and Elli, and he doesn't even bother to walk around us. He just pushes me and Elli out of his way. He knocks me off-balance, but he pushes my sister so hard that she falls on her butt.
So, I call out to him, "Hey! Jerkface! Get back here!"
He turns around, storms up to me, gets in my face, and sneers at me, "What did you call me?"
And I stand my ground, like Dad taught me, "Only what you are, jerkface. Now apologize to my sister for knocking her to the floor."
"And what are you gonna do if I don't?" he asks.
"Then I'm going to politely ask you if you would care to step outside."
"What, you wanna fight?"
"If I must. And if it gets to that point, not only will I thrash you for putting your hands on my sister, but I'll also beat out of you the money it would take to replace the oscillating particle finder and filter that you just destroyed for no good reason. Cent... by excruciating... cent. Don't test me. This is a problem you'll really be sorry you sought from me."
And as I talk, I take the bully by the collar of his shirt with one arm, lift him off of his feet, and hold him there. As a result, once he realizes that his feet are no longer touching the ground, the expression on his face turns from smug aggression to one of absolute alarm.
So I finish, "Now apologize to Landon for breaking his oscillator, and apologize to my sister for knocking her to the floor. Or you're done for."
"Put me down!!" he screams as Landon walks over to us and Elli gets up.
