After we get back to our present, we give full, written mission reports, and file them away. Then Bruce, Bridgette, and I go back to his mansion. When we get inside, Lois greets me with a deep, silent kiss, and Selina meets Bruce like a kitten, asking, "So, did you bring me back something shiny from the future?"

He only looks at her and says, "Let me go get changed first."

"And I brought you a change of clothes, too, my loves," says Lois, handing me and Bridgette a set of clothes, each.

"What would I do without you, honey?" I ask, kissing her and changing right there using my speed.

"Thanks, Mom," says Bridgette, hugging her and asking Alfred if there was somewhere she could change.

"Of course, young miss," says Alfred as we sit down on the couches in the sitting room. "Right this way, please."

When Bruce gets finished changing, he joins us in the sitting room. But instead of sitting down with us, he immediately gets down on one knee, opens a small, black velvet box containing a polished, 24-karat gold, diamond-studded and emerald-encrusted ring that must have cost well over a hundred fifty thousand dollars, and says to Selina, "It's not from the future, but I hope it's shiny enough."

I sit foward on the couch, not believing my eyes, and Lois covers her gaping mouth with both hands as Bridgette comes into this sitting room and says, "O. M. G..."

Bruce continues, "Selina, I am regarding Kara Zor-El and Brainiac Five as a cautionary tale. I already lost you, once, and you're already carrying my second-born child. They call me the World's Greatest Detective. I should've been able to read these signs much more clearly before now. But at this point, all I know is, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, Selina Kyle, will you be my wife?"

"Bruce," says Selina, "What the hell took you so long to ask?"

And she hugs Bruce and says, "Of course I'll marry you!"

They kiss, and Lois and I stand up to congratulate them. When they pull away from each other, Bruce puts the ring onto Selina's finger, and I say, "Bruce, man, it's about damn time!"

"I agree wholeheartedly, Master Kent," says Alfred, who has finally cracked a smile, and was apparently eavesdropping in the hallway. "And I must commend you, Miss Kyle, as you are the one to finally force him to commit. Congratulations, to both of you. I'm so proud of you, Master Bruce."

Bruce and I bro hug, and Lois hugs Selina and says, "Congrats, ¡mi amiga! We want to be the first ones to know when the date is."

"Absolutely," says Selina. "And you're not getting out of any maid-of-honor duties, either. You and Clark made us the godparents to Bridge and the twins, so, you're my only logical choice for my maid of honor."

"Me, Selina?" asks a stunned Lois as she soaks in what the Cat just said to her. "You want me to be your maid of honor?"

"Of course," matter-of-factly repsonds Bruce's (finally!) fiancé. "Besides, a bride-to-be's maid of honor is supposed to be someone who's closest to her, right?"

"Well yeah," answers Lois, slightly shrugging in agreement.

"Yeah, well, aside from Bruce and Clark, I don't really have anyone else who's closer to me than you. Not even Harley or Ivy. And even if she was--I mean, I love my girl Harley to death, but--she too nutty to be my maid of honor. Literally. That girl's head is a bag full o' hyenas. For real, you can smell the crazy comin' up off'a her. And that's me being nice about it. Truthfully, you are my only option for the maid-of-honor slot."
