Medical Bay | Watchtower, Earth's Orbit

After the visitors from Earth-49 went back to their home dimension, early the next morning, we wake up, Jon, Elli, and I, and we immediately get ready. We get dressed in our uniforms, and we make our way to the Justice League's Watchtower.

When we get there, we bear witness to Aunt Lois being prepped for transfer to Uncle Clark's Fortress of Solitude. Auntie Allura (whom I affectionately refer to as "Auntie Lu") is overseeing the entire process, for as a Kryptonian physician, she is the foremost authority on Kryptonian physiology. She'll be able to make sure that Aunt Lois is as safe as she can possibly be.

Jon and Elli are blaming themselves for what happened to their mother, and I've been continually trying to tell them that there was nothing they could've done to prevent this. But even still, my words offer no comfort to ease their pain, and because they're each other's twin, their collective pain and feelings of guilt are that much more intensified. And my heart is breaking to see my best friend and the love of my life torturing themselves for something they could not control.

So, from the moment we got here, I've been holding onto Jon's hand and arm, and I've been trying to psychically influence their emotions to try and cheer them up. Because I know that since Jon and Elli are literally each other's other half, they have that twin telepathy thing going on, and their emotions tie into each other.

But it's really hard, because Kryptonians are really hard-headed...

So I ask him, "Jonnie? Are you okay?"

"No, Ro," he replies, a single teardrop rolling down his face, "I'm really not. My mother is standing on death's doorstep, and my sister and I should have been there to help her."

So I take his face in my hands, and I sternly say, "Jonathan Samuel Kent, you listen to me, and I mean you hear me clearly. You too, Elena Maria Kent. The two of you were where your mother wanted you to be. I know that as a parent, she was probably glad that she captured his attention, instead of him trying to seek you two out. Yeah, she's in a bad way, but she's not dead. And even if she had passed on, I bet you she wouldn't have had it any other way if it meant the two of you survived. She wouldn't want you guys beating yourselves up over something that she wanted to keep you safe from. Stop feeling bad. Because I also bet you that she wouldn't change a thing if it meant you were the ones still walking around even if she wasn't. Alright?"

"Alright," agrees Elli, wiping her tears away.

"Alright," says my boo, sniffling, sighing, and clearing his throat. "So, where are we on damage assessment?"

"Um..." I start, "Daddy is coordinating with various law enforcement agencies and hero groups around the globe to see what all the damage is, but, as far as I know, so far, the Daily Planet is complete rubble, courtesy of the Earth-49 'S'-Guy, and the Fortress is absolutely wrecked, also courtesy of the Alt-U 'S'-Guy in question. Word on the street is, he couldn't find Uncle Clark's Sunstone Crystal, though, so if you guys find it, Uncle Clark can probably rebuild everything. Though, if Aunt Lois is being transferred to the Fortress for extensive, more specialized treatment, it's almost certainly already been rebuilt."

"I'm not talking about that kind of damage," Jonnie says. "I'm talking about the team's morale. How's everyone doing?"

"Eh... it's iffy, at best. Everyone's a bit shaken up about an evil Superman showing up and almost killing your mom. How's Uncle Clark doing?"

"Not good, Ro," Elli says. "Dad won't leave Mom's side for anything. And a little-known fact about any Kryptonian's physiology: We don't need any food, water, or sleep as long as we have yellow or blue solar energy or Blue K radiation running through our veins. The only reason we actually do those things is because of habit. And Dad's been a complete wreck since he pretty much almost killed Earth-49 Superman. But what really scared him, I think, was the fact that he was completely prepared to take another life, and it didn't even bother him. He was right. Everybody always only focuses on how perfect Superman seems to be, but people always seem to forget that underneath all the 'Super', he's still just a man."
