Fifth District Police Station | Metropolis, New York
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 | 19:42 EDTWhen I get to the police station, Bruce, Diana, Barry, and Hal are already there and waiting for me at the door. So we walk quickly toward the interview room where Lex is currently being held.
"Alright guys, dígame," I say. "What's goin' on?"
"¿Dígame?" asks Hal.
"Ultrawoman is rubbin' off on me, I guess," I reply, deadpanning at Hal while also staying highly aware of the fact that we're in a public setting. "Now, about Lex?"
"Well, apparently," says Barry, "he just walked into the station in--get this, instead of a green-and-purple mech suit--a gold-and-black armorized suit, he asked to speak to the Justice League, and he didn't resist when the officers on-shift arrested him on the spot."
"It was highly foolish of him to do this," says Diana.
"But that's just it," says Hal as we near the interview room, "that was an incredibly stupid move. And Lex is many things, but stupid isn't one of 'em. Lex knows that his name is at the top of every 'shoot-or-arrest first, ask questions later" list in this country, alone, so why, knowing this, would he just waltz into a police station, without putting up a fight, and even go so far as to ask for us? He hates us. All of us. Especially Superman."
"And then, there's also the fact that I double-checked with A.R.G.U.S.," adds Bruce, "and not only did Luthor make it overseas to the Hague, but he is also under constant, 24/7, heavily armed guard until his execution date."
"Yeah," agrees Barry, "and then there's the fact that he's also acting... well, let's just say he's acting unlike himself."
"How so?" I inquire.
"Well, he's being nice," Barry replies. "He hasn't insulted anyone, he hasn't demanded anything of anyone, he's not acting entitled, like he owns the place, he's been nothing but super polite while he's been in custody, and he's been wishing people well. Completely the opposite of how he usually is."
"That is odd..." I agree, furrowing my brow and crossing my arms in confusion.
"Right?" says Barry. "So it's not just me. Something's off with Lex. And we've gotta figure out what."
Then, something occurs to me. But I'm not sure about it, so I need to test it. So I say, "Flash, you're up. With me in the interview room, please."
"Yep," he says.
When we walk into the room, Lex (in a gray prison jumpsuit) looks at us and says, "Thank God. Look, I don't have time to explain, but I need your help. Please. My world may be destroyed if you don't come with me."
"Don't you mean 'our' world, Lex?" asks Barry.
"No, he doesn't," I answer for Lex, having scanned him with my x-rays and found something extremely odd. "Barry, do me a favor and try to vibrate your hand through his chest."
"What?!" cries Barry. "You've gotta be joking. That'll kill him!"
"No, it won't," I argue. "Just... trust me on this. Do it."
Barry complies, and ends up just touching Lex. Bewildered, Barry says, "This should be impossible. This would only happen if--"
"If his molecules were vibrating at a different frequency than ours," I clip him, "just as I thought. Which would lead to your subsequent inability to vibrate your hand through him. And when I scanned him with my x-rays, I found that his heart is on the opposite side of his chest. He looks identical to Lex, but he's vastly different in many ways. He said 'his world' because he meant 'his world'. This Lex Luthor is from another dimension, correct?"
