Friday, August 9, 2019 | 13:45 EDTWhen we told Bridgette we wanted to spend some time with her before she up and moved to California to be a Titan, we meant it. So, we're going out, all of us, as a family, to the Smallville County Fair. Bridgette has expressed interest in my hometown because she's never been, and Lois hasn't been back to Smallville since she met Ma and Pa, so we decided to make a trip out of it.

Friday, August 9, 2019 | 12:49 CSTWhen we arrive in Kansas, we land in front of Ma and Pa's house, and I knock on the door. "Coming," I hear Ma call out to us.
She opens the door, and instantaneously, her milk chocolate-colored features light up as she sees that it's us. "Clark, Lois, Bridgette," beams Ma, "come in, come in!"
"Who is it, Martha?" calls Pa from the back of the house.
"It's Clark, Lois, and Bridgette, Jonathan," replies Ma. "And they brought the twins."
"Oh, great," says Pa. "I'll be in there in a few."
"So," starts Ma, "how are my three heroes doin'?"
"We're doin' good, Ma," I reply. "Bridge, here, is about to officially become a Titan. So sometime tomorrow, we're gonna take all of Bridgette's information over to Dick Grayson and Princess Koriand'r so that they can get her enrolled in school, during her stay in Titans' Tower."
"Wow," says Ma, earnestly amazed at Bridge's accomplishments. "You gotta feel real proud of yourself, baby, getting accepted into the Titans team, and all. From what I understand of what Clark's told me about them, they have some really rigorous standards to be accepted."
"Yeah, Mama M," Bridgette replies to her grandmother. "They're like, pretty much the team to be a part of if you're a teenager with powers, like moi, for instance."
"Clark and I are very proud of her, Martha," says Lois, beaming. "From what she's been through to now, she's come a long way."
"Oh, stop it, you guys," says Bridgette, blushing.
"Yeah," agrees Ma, "I remember you two telling me about the circumstances around by which you got custody of babygirl, here. 'Scuse my French, but, just thinking about it even now just makes me wanna knock the flamin' hell outta that entitled hussy!"
"Whoa, Ma..." I say, chuckling nervously. "Take a breather. Mrs. Olivieri is incarcerated."
"Exactly, Mama M," assents Bridge, "and even if she were to get out and seek me out, Mom and Dad have taken steps to ensure that we get alerted when my egg donor gets within even a thousand feet of me. It's all good."
"Well, good. 'Cause I don't ever want any o' y'all to see what I was like in my young days. But over you three, I'd backslide."
"Yeah," says Pa, "your mother was a real holy terror, back in the day."
"Hey, Papa J," says Bridgette.
"Hello, Pa," I get up to hug my adopted father.
"Hey, Jonathan," smiles Lois.
"And just what do you mean by 'holy terror', Jonathan?" asks Ma. "I was pleasant to be around most days... right?"
After my hug, I intensely look back and forth between my ma and pa like a deer caught in headlights.
"Ehh... well, Martha, you're a joy to be around all the time. It's just..."
Oh dear... I look at my pa and then at my wife. When she looks at me, I give her a look, and she immediately understands what my eyes are telling her and nods.
