I threw my backpack on the back of my chair and took my usual seat. The teacher wasn't even in the classroom though it's five minutes until the bell. She must be running a little late. A few people were already seated but most were just flooding in and chatting.

I rested my chin in one hand and shifted from the good hand to the casted hand from time to time. My mind wandered back to yesterday on Facebook. It's strange to think Matt was being nice. It was a good change considering everything he's done to me and Ashley. And he was right, too. Why should people care if me and Adam are dating or not. It's none of their business what me and Adam do or what we are. And we aren't 'anything' at all anyways!

After a few more moments of pondering on the thought, Matt walked in the room and looked around until his eyes met mine. He gave me a friendly half smile and took the desk in front of me.

Even though he showed some sort of respect toward me, it was still awkward having him near me - Let alone taking the seat in front of me. But, Who knows what has happened to him between then and now? Maybe he realized that he really was wrong and that he hurt me. But, maybe he knew that in the beginning.

"What are you doing?" I asked a little nervously, but hid the tension in my voice.

He smiled as he turned around. Raising his eyebrows, he put an elbow on my desk. I raised my eyebrows right back at him and sucked in a breath.

"Sitting," He answered simply and waved one of his hands to gesture to his posistion. "What about you?"

"Never mind. I just wanted to say... thank you." I mumbled slightly.

"For what, exactly?" He asked.

"Just for defending us."

"Defending? Us? Who's Us?"

"Me and Adam."

He thought about that for a moment. "I guess I was defending but really I was just speaking the truth."

"Well, whatever you were doing.. Did... Just whatever. Thanks I guess."

"No problem, babe." He said with a smirk.

"Don't call me that." I snapped at him.

"I'm kidding." He said seriously but with a smile. He removed his elbow from my desk and turned to face the front of the room.

I sighed and rested my head on my palm. I stared blankly at the back of Matt's head and smiled.

Suddenly, he turned back around and he realized I was already staring at him. He seemed to not care at all and put his elbow back on my desk.

"So... Are you and Adam-?"

"-Dating? No." I answered quickly.

"I was going to say friends, but thanks for answering that too."

"You're welcome, I guess. I'm actually kind of glad me and Adam aren't like... Yeah." I added and he just nodded and squinted at me.

"I have a gut feeling that you're in denial." He admitted.

"Denial about what?" I asked, my voice getting a little higher.

"You and him."

"Me and who?"

"You know who."

"Who knows who?"

"Stop trying to stall." He ordered.

"Stop trying to pry." I snapped.

"If there's nothing going on then there's nothing to pry about." He snapped right back as he continued to squint his eyes.
