Chapter 2

*************

It was my last class and I still hadn't seen Matt today. Even at lunch, he wasn't sitting with me like usual. He told me he needed to hang out with his friends because he hasn't been around them lately but we would hang out tonight. What was up with him today? I know he wanted a little space, but he could've at least said a simple "hi". Maybe this had something to do with last night? Oh no, last night. He probably hates me for not trusting him. I'll talk to him tonight.

When the last bell of the day rang throughout the school, the class began flooding out into the hallways. I slung my book bag over my shoulder and dragged myself into the hallways. I slipped my phone from my back pocket, careful not to make my bag fall, and went to my inbox. No messages.

'Hey. where are you?xoxo' I sent to Matt.

My phone buzzed a few seconds later.

'Practice.'

Well that's strange, I thought. He didn't even put an 'xoxo' at the end. Now that I think about it, he didn't put one after the text this morning either. Is he mad at me? That answer is obvious. He's probably mad about last night. I screwed up so much. I love this boy with all my heart. Nothing could ever stop me from loving him. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me. So why didn't I trust him with my body?

As I paced quickly down the hall, I headed towards the football field entrance. Knowing the way by heart, I guided myself to the double doors that led outside. I walked quickly to the gate entrance and slipped inside. I sat on my usual spot on the bleachers and watched carefully for Matt. Once I spotted him, I smiled. He looked so cute in football gear.

Matt looked up and then back at the field, but then took a double take. He stared at me for a few seconds with no reaction, which made me nervous, but then I was relieved when he gave me a heart warming smile. I waved flirtily at him and he did a small wave back.

I watched the team practice for about 30 minutes. Pretty soon I knew it was my cue to leave since they would probably be hitting the showers any time soon. I gathered my stuff and retraced my steps back to the school. I decided I would walk home instead of taking the late bus. The late bus was full of loud, noisy athletes and delinquents. Plus, it was a nice day and my house wasn't that far away so it was fine.

My feet pattered against the sidewalk with each step as I looked down at my phone. I had 1 text from Chelsea so I opened it.

'What the hell is wrong between you and Matt?' I was confused by her message. What did I do?

'What?' I texted back.

A few minutes later, when I was only a few blocks away from my house, my phone buzzed.

'Carlos told me something.' Again, I had no idea what she was talking about.

I pressed the green call button and waited for her to pick up. On the first ring, she answered.

"Carlos told me something that you need to hear. But before I do, Are you and Matt still together?" She said first before I could say 'Hello'.

"Are you high?" I asked jokingly.

"This is serious, Ann!" She snapped.

"Okay okay! We're still together. What is it?" I asked in defeat.

"Carlos told me Matt and Ashley had sex in the girls locker room this morning before school. And he felt bad for knowing about it and keeping it from you and didn't know how to tell you. So he told me to tell you." She said rapidly, her voice starting to break at the end. I could tell that those poisonous words that came from her mouth tasted just as bad to say as they did to hear. But, I didn't feel sad. I felt angry, Furious.
